This 기사 attempts to distinguish what sorts of 질문 should be 게시됨 with the different "question" features on Fanpop, and was last edited on 31 March 2009.
Now that 팬팝 has added another "Ooh! Ooh! I get to ask a question!" feature, the 질문 "What is the difference between all these features?" is even 더 많이 appropriate than ever before. One can ask a 질문 in a Forum, in a Quiz, in a Pick, 또는 in an Answer (Request). Which one should be used for a given question?
In summary
To be brief:
* A club's Forum is the best place to ask a 질문 that has a single correct answer which 당신 don't know, such as "Who created this spot?"
* A Pick is for 질문 that do not have an objectively correct answer: 답변 based on opinions 또는 feelings. "Who should win this contest?" 또는 "Which of these do 당신 like best?" are perfect examples of 질문 for a pick.
* A Quiz is for 질문 that have a single correct answer which 당신 do know, such as "Who is the person in this picture I've provided?"
* An Answer Request is for a 질문 that has multiple correct answers, 또는 a single answer sufficiently involved that it can be provided in multiple different ways. "How does one bake snickerdoodles?" is an example of a good request for Answers.
Answers
The 답변 feature is a knowledgebase. It is a mechanism for users to share their wisdom with one another on different processes. Given that there can be multiple correct 답변 to any particular 질문 - supported 의해 the fact that users vote for the best correct answer - the expectation is that 답변 may be varied, of some length, and reflect different approaches to the question. They are particularly well-suited towards process questions, therefore, and NOT AT ALL suited to 질문 that have a single, one-word correct answer. Thus, good Answer Requests often start with the 질문 words "How" 또는 "Why" rather than "Who" "What" "When" "Where" 또는 "Which". For instance, "How do 당신 identify the species of a particular tree?" is a good Answer Request - there are many different but equally correct 답변 to such a question, while "Who wrote that book about intelligent dolphins joining humans in the galactic community of space-faring races?" is a lame Answer Request, as there is only one answer: David Brin. If there's only one correct answer, and that answer will not vary among the users who answer that question, there's no point in having multiple people attempt to answer the question, nor any point in voting for the best answer.
Picks
Picks are a way of gauging the opinions of the users, rather than their knowledge. Pretty much any opinion-based 질문 is appropriate as a pick, and not appropriate as an Answer Request 또는 퀴즈 question. Picks usually incorporate any of the 질문 words with words that require a value judgment, such as "feel", "prefer", "want", "choose", "like", "best", et cetera. "Who is your 가장 좋아하는 Friend?" is a great pick 질문 (which may be why we've seen it so many times).
Quizzes
퀴즈 are a way of testing how carefully users pay attention to the information available on Fanpop. One asks a 질문 which answer is readily available via a link, video, 포럼 post 또는 other content on 또는 linked from Fanpop. The 답변 should be facts 또는 statements made on the site, rather than feelings, and 질문 whose 답변 cannot be discovered on the site are inappropriate. 퀴즈 질문 should always be answerable 의해 users who are paying attention in that particular club. 질문 such as "Who was the first user to post 500 이미지 on the site?" and "What was my childhood nickname?" are completely bogus 퀴즈 질문 unless that information has been 게시됨 somewhere in that club in a forum, link, video, article, 또는 even another 퀴즈 question, which could be read 의해 anyone in that club. Thus, 팬팝 chat is not a good 출처 for 퀴즈 질문 (as it would require that the user be participating at a set time in order to know the answer to a question).
Fora
The 포럼 for a given club is a place to discuss and convey information about the club's topic. As such, any type of 질문 may be asked here. But since there are specific features to ask trivia questions, opinions and process questions, those would be better asked as part of Quizzes, Picks and Answers, respectively. I say this in particular because there is no way to 검색 the 포럼 in a club faster than scrolling through every page of comments, so specific 질문 and their 답변 get quickly and easily lost. Not only is that inconvenient, but it also results in many, many repetitions of the same 질문 being asked over and over again. Don't do it! Always 검색 to see if someone else 게시됨 a similar 질문 before you, and if they have, don't duplicate it. If no one has asked the same (or a sufficiently similar) question, go ahead, knock yourself out and post your question. Doubtless there will be many users delighted to get a non-repeat 질문 to answer, and 당신 may even get props for it.
Still, it is better to ask 질문 with short, one- 또는 two-word 답변 in the 포럼 than elsewhere. While the fora aren't searchable, Answer Requests aren't searchable, either, and so a club's 포럼 has a marked advantage for 질문 where there can 또는 will be little variety in the short answer: they can be found 더 많이 easily than in a similarly long list of Answer Requests (because 더 많이 포럼 threads are listed on a page), and such 질문 don't then clutter up the list of Answer Requests (thus making it 더 많이 likely that people searching for an answer to a particular 질문 will find it).
A final note on the forum: while specific, single-answer 질문 such as "How big is the banner for a club?" are best asked in a club's forum, chances are very high that someone has asked that 질문 before you...many times. While it is true that 당신 can't 검색 for 포럼 posts 또는 threads, 당신 can do two quick things before posting such a question:
1) Check the first page of 포럼 threads to see if any of the threads are likely to address your question. For our example, the "General Questions" thread in the 팬팝 club is almost certain to have answered that 질문 already.
2) Though fora can't be accessed through the 검색 feature at present, after nearly three years of 팬팝 there's a clear pattern: if enough people ask the same freakin' 질문 over and over again, someone will get fed up enough to write an 기사 explaining the answer, in the vain hope of cutting off any further repeats of the same question. Thus, if 당신 have a 질문 that has a short and/or single answer, search for articles that may already answer your question.

This topic may already exist as a soapbox but I have to say that things on certain spots seem to being rated one 별, 스타 CONSTANTLY. People have complained in 포럼 on 더 많이 than one occasion, no 팬 would rate something one 별, 스타 if they liked the subject the spot was dedicated to, has anyone else noticed this on any spots?
It happens on the One 나무, 트리 언덕, 힐 spot, and others related to it, I'm sure that someone else is really annoyed about this!! It is really childish! Sometimes it is pages of content all rated one 별, 스타 and somehow I feel convincedthat it is NOT a coincidence!!!
Can 당신 please comment!
