Well after Rose was trapped in the parallel world (dubbed ‘Pete’s World’) we had to wait until 크리스마스 Time to see how the Doctor would carry on without Rose and who the hell was this stowaway aboard the TARDIS. Well, these 답변 were obviously answered in ‘The Runaway Bride’ and then we had to wait another three months after a really cool trailer for Series 3. And so we find ourselves in this article, which is my look back at the third series of the revived Series.

[‘The Runaway Bride’ will be covered in a future article]

EPISODE ONE: Smith and Jones 의해 Russell T. Davies
I remember it as though it was just yesterday. March 31st 2007, I was in my bedroom, aged nine years old. I was so excited because this was going to be the first time I watched a series from the first episode onwards. I was watching all the previews for this episode, I had been buying Doctor Who Adventures in preparation for this episode and then it came on. Oh my god, I was blown away. I still 사랑 this episode even now. Freema Agyeman proved that she was perfect casting for the Doctor’s newest companion, Martha Jones. There was a great cast, threatening villains and great plot, plus we saw Tennant’s blue suit for the first time. It’s a really great episode to start off the third series.

EPISODE TWO: The Shakespeare Code 의해 Gareth Roberts
Well, every series that introduces a new companion always has a past and future setting as episodes two and three, in this episode it was set in the past. Rose had ‘The Unquiet Dead’; Amy would have ‘Victory of the Daleks’ and Clara would have ‘Cold War’. And for Martha it was ‘The Shakespeare Code’ and as 당신 can tell 의해 the title, it featured the famous play-write, William Shakespeare. Now this was Gareth Roberts first episode for Doctor and I will honestly say that except for ‘Planet of the Dead’ with Russell T. Davies, none of his following episodes succeed the standard of this episode. And the sets were also amazing, I really felt as though I was in Elizabethan England.

EPISODE THREE: Gridlock 의해 Russell T. Davies
Gridlock is the third and final episode in the New Earth Trilogy, if 당신 were to ask me if it delivers I’d say, “Yeah, for the most part”. ‘Gridlock’ is my favourite episode within the trilogy, the episode has so many good things in it that I can’t help but enjoy it. It shows that the Doctor has grown to like Martha, as he travels a lot in this episode just to save her. There was no villain; it was just the Doctor saving his companion and then later the motorists. Another good thing is that it reintroduced the Macra to the revived series and they done it in style. The episode also has studding effects and it also shows that Martha was smart because she knew to calm the Macra down 의해 turning off the engines of the vehicle.

EPISODE’S FOUR & FIVE: Daleks in Manhattan & Evolution of the Daleks 의해 Helen Raynor
Well after three weeks of solid episode’s we were bound to go downhill at one point and here it is. Helen Raynor, although she tried her best with episode failed to excite me. The Daleks were great in Series 1 and 2 yet in this two-parter, they were unsatisfying. They never once put a chill down my spine which in every other Dalek story I’ve watched (except maybe ‘Day of the Daleks’) they’ve accomplished. The prosthetics were okay maybe a bit outdated now though. The one thing that truly satisfied me in these episodes were the performances, David Tennant and Freema Agyeman were great (“Do it! Just do it!”). The supporting cast were also great as well…except maybe the woman who played Tallulah. Another thing to note, the current Peter Parker/ Spider-Man was in this episode.

EPISODE SIX: The Lazarus Experiment 의해 Stephan Graham
After the disappointment that was the Dalek two-parter we 옮기기 onto Martha’s return home. Although this episode doesn’t really get criticised, I’ve never thought it got the attention it deserves. Although I’ll admit it’s an average episode and that the CGI (Computer Generated Images) weren’t the best, this episode has some really great quotes. Like after Lazarus’ resurrection when the main characters of the story are in the church and the Doctor says that powerful quote, “Some people live 더 많이 in 20 years than they do in 80. It’s not the time that matters, it’s the person."

EPISODE SEVEN: 42 의해 Chris Chibnall
Until a few months 이전 when I joined Doctor Who TV as a commenter (is that the right word), I always thought this episode was seriously under-rated, 의해 that I mean I thought that people rated it the same as they rate ‘Aliens of London’. But luckily I was proven wrong, as I found that many enjoyed it the same as I had. The episode is really suspense building as well, it also helps that it follows real life time, that of course meaning the forty-two 분 of the episode.

EPISODES EIGHT & NINE: Human Nature/ The Family of Blood 의해 Paul Cornell
Paul Cornell wrote my 가장 좋아하는 Rose centered episode so I had high hopes for these two episodes and did the guy deliver, hell yeah he did. This story is amazing, a gem of the revived series. Paul Cornell wrote a great episode in Series 1 and in Series 3, he gave us a masterpiece. Whilst the threat of the Family is being gradually introduced, the episodes are always entertaining thanks to the spectacular performances 의해 David Tennant and Jessica Hynes who play John Smith/the Doctor and Nurse Joan Redfern respectively. I think its funny the one thing the Doctor never thought he’d do was fall in love, probably because he loved Rose. To me this is sadder than ‘Doomsday’ and ‘The 천사 Take Manhattan’, because John Smith didn’t want to die, yet he turned back into the Doctor anyway, he was a 메리다와 마법의 숲 man. This episode will never be forgotten in my eyes.

EPISODE TEN: Blink 의해 Steven Moffat
Well, what can 당신 say about Blink than what hasn’t already been said? I can’t think of anything. But I will say it is the perfect episode to turn someone into a Whovian. It’s that good, Steven Moffat on a high note. If 당신 haven’t seen ‘Blink’ (which I seriously doubt), go watch it because you’ll enjoy it a lot.

EPISODES ELEVEN, TWELVE & THIRTEEN: Utopia/ The Sound of Drums/ Last of the Time Lords 의해 Russell T. Davies
Right, it’s no secret that we Whovians 사랑 going to the future, but RTD took it another step further 의해 sending us to the end of the universe in ‘Utopia’. And needless to say, he had done it magnificently. Other than being in the future, the episode was really enjoyable. 당신 have the return of Captain Jack, we 사랑 Jack. Chantho and Professor Yana were really likeable characters. And the ending, god the ending...Russell I 사랑 your writing. I was watching the 다음 time trailer none stop for the following week. Then we 옮기기 onto the following two episodes, which in a word were ‘spectacular’. John Simm was the perfect casting for the modern-day Master; he was incredible (but not better than Delgado). The Master is my 가장 좋아하는 villain in Doctor Who history and John Simm pulled it off brilliantly. The best thing about the Master is that unlike the Daleks and the Cybermen, he knows that he’s doing wrong, he’s doing it all out of pure evilness and that’s terrifying. Seeing what he does to world, Martha’s family and the Doctor really put a chill down your spine. The Doctor and the Master’s relationship reminds me a lot of Moriarty and Sherlock Holmes. Moriarty has the upper hand yet the Doctor just pulls through in the end. Another relationship that the Doctor and the Master remind me of is 배트맨 and the Joker. This is without a doubt Freema Agyeman’s finest performance as Martha Jones, she’s utterly brilliant. John Barrowman was great in the episodes too.

In Conclusion, Series 3 is a brilliant series with many great stories like ‘The Family of Blood’, ‘Blink’ and ‘Last of the Time Lords’. David Tennant and Freema Agyeman’s on-screen chemistry together was brilliant. The supporting and secondary characters were also brilliant. If 당신 haven’t watched Series 3 and have only watched the series with Matt Smith, I beg 당신 to watch this series because it’s a fantastic series. Below is my order of preference when it comes to the series 3 episodes. 코멘트 below to tell me what were your thoughts on Series 3? Anyway, thanks for reading.
