	iwasneverhere picked She wasn't generating enough money for the company.: Disney wants money. The Hunchback of Notre Dame was a successful movie. But items from the film weren't purchased as readily. So this is why I think she was bumped off. posted over a year ago.

	Digoenes picked All of the above!: Hunchback is a great movie but it is also one of Disney's darkest. There isn't a whole lot for little kids to grasp (aside from the gargoyles), the music while wonderful, is full of dark, religious imagery and many songs deal with bigotry, racism, and oppression. And then there's Frollo, Disney's darkest, most overtly sexual villain. Esmeralda is also a great character but she's probably a bit too sultry for the lineup (which in of itself is problematic since it goes into the issue of sexualizing women of color). Basically, the film is amazing but does't fit into Disney's overall saccharine, happy worldview. posted over a year ago.

	Vizsla4 picked She didn't have connections with royalty.: I think she is definitely heroic enough to be considered a DP. I don't think the Hunchback is inappropriate for kids. I grew up watching it and I never found it disturbing. On the contrary, it taught me a great lesson about how we should never be unkind to people who look different.
