Hola! As most of 당신 probably know, I have taken the liberty of restarting 팬 of the 월 after a few months of inactivity due to Crazy_Rawr's absence. This is the first FOTM interview in months and it's with Tygers_Eye, FOTM for May. MalloMar provided the questions. Well, here's the long awaited interview :)

1. Congratulations! How does it feel to be 팬 of the Month?

A little surprising. I just learned that I won 팬 of the 월 for May 2014. Since's it's now October, I imagine my shock.

2. Your 가장 좋아하는 Princess and why?

Princess Tiana. I think she has a great combination of admirable characteristics balanced with relatable personality flaws. On the one hand, she’s very tenacious, hard-working, driven, motivated, and won’t give up on her dream. On the flip side of that coin, she’s a tunnel-visioned stick-in-the-mud that doesn't know how to do anything besides work, and doesn't want to because she wants to stick with things she’s familiar with. Since she’s had to work “two jobs her whole life,” it’s all she feels comfortable with and so throws herself into her work. Since she’s never danced 또는 fallen in 사랑 (or been a frog ;P) she avoids these things like crazy. She’s afraid of putting herself out there 또는 making herself vulnerable to embarrassment and heartbreak, which I relate to with every fibre of my being.

I also relate to how finding romance is not her highest priority. She's rather accomplish her goals and achieve her dream than wait for prince charming, despite how her best friend Lottie can think of nothing else and her mom keeps pressuring her to give her grand kids. Considering my sister dreams of the princess fairy tale true 사랑 too, and my mom is 더 많이 interested in me finding a husband than succeeding in college, I know this all too well. x_x

3. Your least 가장 좋아하는 Princess and why?

Princess Ariel. Most people on 팬팝 are tired of hearing this, but I find her very selfish, thoughtless and inconsiderate. The less said about that, the better.

4. Your 가장 좋아하는 Prince and why?

Prince Philip. I know it’s pretty corny and old-school, but I like how well-rounded he is as a prince. Handsome, fairly intelligent, romantic, charismatic, a great singer, a great dancer (dancing is my weakness), sincere, follows his heart, is interested in finding true 사랑 instead of conforming to an arranged marriage, tells his father he’ll marry the woman he loves (with the hilarious and poignant “This is the 14th century!”) and pays no mind to his father’s ensuing tantrum.

5. Your least 가장 좋아하는 Prince and why?

The Beast. Mostly because of how he treats his staff. He condemns them to being inanimate objects for eternity TWICE (first when he angers the enchantress and then when he frees Belle), and never seems to acknowledge 또는 apologize to them. He also terrorizes them for ten years when they’re trapped in the 성 with him. He doesn't even try to find 사랑 if even just to free them.

While it’s very noble that he falls for Belle and “finally learns to love” and when he sets Belle free, I feel it doesn't prove he's a better person 사무용 겉옷, 전반적인 because he still doesn't think of his staff. He gives up his own chance to end the curse to free Belle. That's great, but he’s still not the only one under the curse. 의해 freeing her, he condemns his staff. I wouldn't mind, except he doesn't seem to CARE that they’re hurting too. He doesn't even try to protect the 성 from invaders after Belle’s gone!

Mrs. Potts: “What should we do, Master?”
Beast: “It doesn’t matter now. Just let them come.”

당신 ARE NOT THE ONLY ONE IN THE CASTLE, BUDDY! 당신 selfish prick. Sirius Black said in Harry Potter that a true measure of a man’s kindness is how he treats his staff (or creatures less powerful than him, I don’t remember) and my sister often says that a man’s true nature comes out in how he treats those that can do nothing for him. And the Beast fails both tests.

6. Your 가장 좋아하는 DP villain and why?

“Gentlemen! Enchante! A tip of the hat from Dr. Facilier!”

I think he’s a great villain. Great design, great voice, great voodoo powers, great motivation, a fairly sympathetic backstory, an awesome villain song—this guy’s got it all! Unfortunately he suffers from little screen time and not much main plot involvement. If they had just revised the story before animating, he could have been one of the Greats!

7. Your least 가장 좋아하는 DP villain and why?

Ratcliffe. There’s not much to him besides his greed and social-climbing. He also started the “greedy white man destroys everything in 검색 of gold” stock villain that plagued Disney’s late 90’s, early 2000’s (like Clayton from Tarzan and General Rourke from Atlantis), so yeah.

8. Your 가장 좋아하는 DP movie and why?

Beauty and the Beast. I think it’s the closest to a “perfect movie,” especially one made 의해 Disney. I also 사랑 all the sophisticated morals and life lessons that even most grownups don’t get, and the subtext and symbolism that I keep discovering even after the ninety-something time of seeing it

9. If 당신 could choose one 디즈니 heroine to be in the line-up, who would it be? Where would they rank on your pretty list and 가장 좋아하는 list?

Esmeralda, without question. She’d also be my 가장 좋아하는 and most pretty 의해 a landslide.

10. Which Princess do 당신 relate to most and why?

Mulan. I know how it feels to be awkward, unable to fit in the role that society says I should, try hard to meet everyone’s expectations and fail, make a fool out of myself when I meet new people in a situation/environment I’m not familiar with, etc.

Don't really have one. Don't really care for DP romances. I guess Aurora and Philip since they're so iconic.

13. Your least 가장 좋아하는 DP couple and why?

Pocahontas and John Smith. Not historically accurate, based on the faulty “native women can’t resist the handsome, virile, superior, godlike white man” trope, and I can’t stand Mel Gibson (who voiced John).

14. Your 가장 좋아하는 DP song and why?

Once Upon a Dream. I think it’s very beautiful, ethereal and romantic.

15. Your least 가장 좋아하는 DP song and why?

Um... None really comes to mind.

16. What is your 가장 좋아하는 song from each DP movie? (It doesn't have to be sung 의해 the DP)

17. Who is your 가장 좋아하는 character from each DP movie, besides the DP?

18. 가장 좋아하는 and least 가장 좋아하는 DP sidekick?

가장 좋아하는 is 레이 the Firefly (he’s not that popular, but I 사랑 him!) and least 가장 좋아하는 is 가자미, 넙치 (grow a spine 당신 little guppy!).

19. 가장 좋아하는 디즈니 movie? (Not being a DP 또는 픽사 movie)

The Hunchback of Notre Dame!

20. 가장 좋아하는 픽사 movie?

… Do I have’ta?

All right, all right. I guess… Ratatouille.

21. Which DP do 당신 want to be best 프렌즈 with and why?

Cinderella. She’s very kind and soft-spoken. She loves 동물 like me, and based on how well she treats the 동물 I can see that she would be a very loyal, kind, helpful, dedicated friend. (Seriously, she saves them from traps, gives them clothes, names, food, shelter, etc, is willing to help them out even though she already has so much to do, go to bat for them even though it’ll get her in even 더 많이 trouble, etc.)

22. Which DP do 당신 think 당신 would not get along with and why?

Ariel. Unlike 가자미, 넙치 또는 Sebastian, I wouldn't let her drag me into places I don’t want to be in, show no concern for my distress 또는 well-being, ignore my protests 또는 warnings to leave, and then STILL drop everything I’m doing to follow her to the ends of the sea, 엷은 황갈색, 폰은 over her, risk everything to help her, 또는 risk my very life to save hers. “What 당신 give is what 당신 get,” as Tiana says, and I’m not giving anything to a gal that can’t even ask if I’m all right and actually wait to hear the answer, 또는 just blows me off when I try to talk to her, 또는 just pats my head and walks away when I say, “I hope 당신 appreciate what I go through for you!” after I risked my life to help her.

23. 가장 좋아하는 crossover couple?

I know this sounds bad since I just finished ragging on her, but… Ariel and Jim Hawkins from Treasure Planet.

I guess I'd better better explain why.

1) I've seen a lot of pictures of them photoshopped together and I think they have GREAT chemistry. Whether it's Ariel admiring Jim from afar, Ariel being perky and Jim being tired/annoyed, Ariel being bubbly while Jim smiles at her antics, Jim taking her para-sailing, Jim protecting her on an adventure, the two just sharing a romantic moment, first kiss, wahtever. I just think they look cute and compatible no matter the situation.

2) Their stories are rather compatible since she's a mermaid that dreams of life on land, while he's a human who works in his mother's seaside inn and then goes on an adventure on a sea ship in... space. Well, whether his adventure is a traditional sea adventure like the book 또는 a sci fi adventure like the film, can 당신 imagine the possibilities if their stories were combined?!

3) Based on their personalities, I actually think they would be rather compatible. Ariel is perky, bubbly, cheerful, energetic, adventurous, etc. Jim is 더 많이 dour, moody, serious, and downtrodden, but has a secret fun side. I think Ariel could help him smile and see the joy in life, while he could challenge her, make her think, make her feel compassion and consideration for others (since he actually has problems), but still feed her 사랑 of the human world and her thrill for adventure.

4) I think they would bring out the best in each other. Again, Ariel's sweet, cheerful, carefree nature could make him smile, lighten up, and act nicer (as we see cute, sweet, carefree Morphy do in the film). Likewise, I think that being in 사랑 with a regular guy who actually has to work for a living and has problems of his own (instead of a rich, easygoing, carefree prince who'll just give her everything she wants) would teach Ariel to be 더 많이 considerate, compassionate, and helpful to others.

24. Have 당신 ever been to any of the 디즈니 theme parks? Which one? If not, which one would 당신 like to go to?

Yes, Disneyland in California. Great place. Lots of fond childhood and teenage memories there.

25. What are your hopes on...

- Fanpop? - I guess that it’ll be a nice place again. I know I haven’t been contributing to it because I can be pretty negative and short-tempered, which is why I try to post as seldom as possible.

- Future 디즈니 movies? - BRING BACK TRADITIONAL HAND-DRAWN (OR AT LEAST 2D) ANIMATION, DARN IT!!!!
