It was called Marvel-Sony ‘Spider-Man': Who should play the new Spidey? | Hero Complex – movies, comics, pop culture – Los Angeles Times
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:

Who should take over the role of Spider-Man from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in the upcoming "Spider-Man" collaboration between Marvel and Sony Pictures? Click through the gallery for a look at some of Hero Complex\'s picks. (Sony Pictures)
Logan Lerman The "Percy Jackson" alumnus is only 23 years old, but he has more than 15 years of acting experience, including films such as "3:10 to Yuma," "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" and "Noah." His recent turn as a naive and inexperienced soldier in "Fury" won him praise on the film festival circuit. Lerman was considered for the Peter Parker role that went to Andrew Garfield. Many fans think he\'s worth a second look. (Jay L. Clendenin / Los Angeles Times)
Donald Glover Who says Spider-Man has to be Peter Parker? In fact, it was a fan-led campaign for "Community" star Donald Glover (also known as Childish Gambino in the music world) to play Spider-Man in Marc Webb\'s 2012 reboot that influenced Brian Michael Bendis and Axel Alonso in their creation of Miles Morales, a teenager of black Latino descent who becomes the Marvel Ultimate Universe version of Spider-Man. Webb, of course, cast Andrew Garfield instead of Glover, but after five Spidey films, perhaps it\'s time for a fresh take and a fresh face. (Jordan Strauss / Associated Press)
Elle Fanning Wait ... what? If you haven\'t been reading Spider-Man lately, you might not know that Spider-Gwen is the most popular version of the hero from the Spider-verse storyline going on. In this version, Stacy, who was played by Emma Stone in the latest movies, is the one who gets bitten by a radioactive spider instead of her friend Peter Parker. Parker died trying to be special like Gwen, and she took it hard. Despite having a cop as a father, or maybe because of it, she became Spider-Woman. Fannning has the acting chops (see "Super 8," "Ginger & Rosa" or anything she\'s in), the youth, and a little of the gawkiness needed to be Spider-Woman. (Jay L. Clendenin / Los Angeles Times)
Ansel Elgort The rising star tried his hand at action opposite Shailene Woodley in "Divergent," but is better known for his role as a cancer patient in "The Fault in Our Stars," which earned him a slew of Teen Choice Awards. (Bob Chamberlin / Los Angeles Times)
Anton Yelchin Known in the genre entertainment world for his performance as Chekov in the "Star Trek" films, Yelchin is one of the hardest-working young actors in the business, appearing in some 17 feature films over the last four years. Plus, Yelchin could pull off the nerdy Peter Parker as well as the spandex-clad Spidey. (Jay L. Clendenin / Los Angeles Times)
Michael B. Jordan Though he\'s playing Johnny Storm in Fox\'s upcoming "Fantastic Four" reboot, that didn\'t stop Chris Evans from playing Captain America. And Michael B. Jordan, whose previous credits include "The Wire," "Friday Night Lights" and "Chronicle," would make a fantastic Miles Morales. (Ricardo DeAratanha / Los Angeles Times)
Aaron Paul The 35-year-old "Breaking Bad" veteran could play a version of Spider-Man who has already established himself as a crime-fighting force. After all, we\'ve seen the origin story twice on the big screen. Perhaps it\'s time to move past a teenage Spidey and let Paul take a crack at the fast-talking hero. (Jay L. Clendenin / Los Angeles Times)
Jeremy Irvine The 24-year-old English actor earned international notice for his portrayal of a young World War I soldier in Steven Spielberg\'s 2011 film adaptation of the play "War Horse." And for the 2013 film "The Railway Man," Irvine dropped nearly 30 pounds and performed his own torture scene stunts. Something tells us he\'s got the chops to play Marvel\'s web-slinger. (Stuart C. Wilson / Getty Images)
Alfred Enoch "Harry Potter" fans will recognize Enoch as Hogwarts student Dean Thomas. Now appearing in the popular series "How to Get Away With Murder," Enoch has the youthful exuberance to pull off a young Miles Morales. (Arnold Turner / Associated Press)
Gael Garcia Bernal The "Mozart in the Jungle" star is a good candidate to play an older version of Miles Morales, and he has shown he has the acting chops to pull it off. (Jay L. Clendenin / Los Angeles Times)
Miles Teller Another fan favorite for the Peter Parker role, "Whiplash" actor Miles Teller is already immersed in the superhero world as Reed Richards in Fox\'s "Fantastic Four." Though it\'s unlikely he\'d appear as both nerds-turned-superheroes, he does possess Peter Parker\'s sarcastic, smart-alecky vibe. (Jay L. Clendenin / Los Angeles Times)
Camren Bicondova Currently playing Selina Kyle on "Gotham," she has shown her catlike athleticism (she\'s also a dancer) and an ability to face bigger, stronger opponents without flinching. She\'s still a fresh face, and can convey the toughness, smarts and outsider quality that a Spider-Woman (Gwen Stacy-version) would probably need. (Jessica Miglio / Fox)
Tyler James Williams In his most recent role as Noah in "The Walking Dead," Williams plays a soft-spoken, kindhearted survivor. The "Everybody Hates Chris" actor has shown he can do emotional and funny in equal measure, which might make him a good fit for Miles Morales. (Frederick M. Brown / Getty Images)
Darren Criss The self-professed Comic-Con junkie is best known for his performance in "Glee," but we can picture him in red and blue, swinging above the streets of New York. (Joe Scarnici / Getty Images)
Daniel Radcliffe It has been nearly four years since Radcliffe portrayed The Boy Who Lived on the big screen, and the "Harry Potter" star has moved on, with credits that include "Horns," "The Woman in Black" and "Kill Your Darlings." Plus, we were impressed by his mad rap skills. We\'re not saying he\'s a perfect fit for Peter Parker, but we are saying it would be fun. (Kirk McKoy / Los Angeles Times)
Sony and Marvel Studios have spun a deal that will introduce Spider-Man to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, first in an unspecified Marvel film and then headlining his own movie in 2017. But who will play the iconic web-slinger?
Fans are already rallying behind their favorite actors, with many pointing to “Percy Jackson” alumnus Logan Lerman, who was at one point a contender for the role that went to “The Amazing Spider-Man” actor Andrew Garfield, and to “Community” actor Donald Glover (also known as Childish Gambino), who was an inspiration for Marvel’s Ultimate Universe version of Spider-Man, Miles Morales.
Others are calling for Tobey Maguire to return to the role he originated in Sam Raimi’s 2002 blockbuster and subsequent sequels. And many want Garfield to continue in the role he’s inhabited since 2012’s reboot; last year’s sequel, “The Amazing Spider-Man 2,” grossed $706 million worldwide.

95% of the names on this list are absolutely ridiculous. Do these guys really spend no time putting thought in these lists?!?!
toby? as who.. uncle ben? please… while it was fun to watch those movies when they first came out. As a fan of the comics since the 70's .. in no way did i ever believe that he had the wit, the sarcasm the teen thing going on to actually make him "real" to me… hell the guy who played him on tv would have been better than toby.. but it's all we had.. but we have real choices now.. so if you would quit comparing andrew to toby youd see that garfield wasnt bad… and no,, it doesnt have to be a total reboot bit some things will have to be "explained" in order to fit intho the MCU.. so quit crying.. and be happy… its not exactly what we all wanted.. but its a process… now.. if we could just get the x men…
Ridiculous to YOU. And, yes, it looks like they spent at least some time coming up with these names. Come on, Dutchy, expand your mind.
Dylan O'Brien would make an incredible Peter Parker!
Dylan O'Brien wasn't on your list but, came in number one on another list. Logan is OK.
You've got different races and even different sexes, so why stop there with the pretty versions of those. What about about an older dude? Bryan Cranston? Or a heavy girl? Rebel Wilson? That's pushing the envelope and the spandex as well. Do something different, and I'min!
Hey guys the new FF movie will most likely suck so lets let the cast all be Spider-man instead. Clown
wtf these suck spiderman cant be black or a girl thats so stupid lmao!!! oh well its never gonna happen.
At first impression I can say that I am going for an ex Harry Potter, just because it seems to me that this actor would be able to go very well in character, with extensive experience in the film industry. However, a subjective note would head to Donald Glover.
Bring Toby back to start the film, but with spidey's death make the transition to Glover.
Logan Lerman. Great actor, did great in Fury, and makes a very relatable character to fans.
top choice Andrew Garfield. Second Dylan O' brien and Spidey gwen would be great if they could bring Emma stone. fourth choice Donald Glover Fifth Logan Lerman.
IT NEEDS TO BE DONALD GLOVER!!!!! He has been after that part for years now, none of these other actors have been after the part except Micheal B. Jordan and thats recently. Donald should get the part as Miles Morales, but if they make a Peter Parker Spider-Man than i think Logan Lerman should play him.
Jonny Weston (Chasing Mavericks, Taken 3, Project Almanac, Insurgent) is perfect for it.
young boy-next door look and charm, but with attitude/skills to pull off the action. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm4103976/?ref_=nv_sr_1
bring back Tobey. it makes more sense for the Civil War storyline. Spidey reveals his identity after years of hiding. Spidey is older in the storyline and thats what makes it so great. he finally comes out of the spiderman closet. if we establish a new spiderman and then reveal his identity after a year it will have no impact or dramatic tension whatsever not even garfields spiderman will have impact. tobey's spidey is old enough that it would be super dramatic.
