Hopefully if Delena doesn't happen, Damon could find someone worthy of all that love he secretly carries in his heart. He's not the type that falls in love often (in fact, as we've been shown, it's rare) and I see him as an all or nothing guy. If he can't have Elena, I don't see him being able to sit by and watch her happy with Stefan while he is with Bonnie. It wouldn't work like that in Damon's mind. He'd see Elena every day and would be reminded of the girl he couldn't have instead of being "happy" with someone else. I don't want Damon to have to watch Elena with Stefan for the rest of his life (which, is forever I suppose lol) or know for a second time that the girl chose Stefan over him. That would upset me.
