Lacuna Coil Bring Sounds of ‘Delirium’ to New York City With Stitched Up Heart + More
Italian metal band Lacuna Coil headlined a sold-out show at New York City’s Gramercy Theater on Thursday, June 9. The group is on tour in North America in support of their eighth studio album,
. Opening acts included Stitched Up Heart, 9Electric and Painted Wives.
Lacuna Coil graced the stage in straightjacket-styled outfits that personified the feel of their brand new disc,
. Their set, however, began with “Nothing Stands in Our Way” and “Die & Rise” off of their previous album
but they also cranked out new tunes “The House of Shame,” “Ghost in the Mist” and the new album’s title track, “Delirium.”
Singer Cristina Scabbia brings a sultry edge to the stage, as she can lure you in with her melody one minute and rip you apart the next. Co-vocalist Andrea Ferro is fearless onstage and spews out the harder vocals which add to Lacuna Coil’s depth and range. Lacuna Coil also have new guitarist Diego Cavallotti with them and the entire band sounded impeccable as a whole.
For diehard fans, “Swamped,” “Heaven’s a Lie” and “Cybersleep” were performed. Their cover of Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence” filled Gramercy Theater and the night ended with “Our Truth” — both songs are from
which celebrates its 10 year anniversary this year.
Stitched Up Heart took the stage beforehand and are definitely no strangers to New York as they were recently here with Sick Puppies. With every show, the band gets better and better, as they acquire more fans with infectious tunes from their forthcoming album
. Stitched Up Heart are one of the most hardworking new bands out there today and they continue to leave their mark wherever they go.
Los Angeles electric hard rock band 9Electric performed beforehand and will debut their full length debut titled
on July 15, while fellow Californians of doom metal band Painted Wives kicked off the night.
