Here is what the 41-year-old actress had to share with the mag:

On past relationships: “I’m 41 years old – I’ve been through everything, OK? I’m grateful for all of it – whether it was quick and passing or something that lingered too long. There is not one thing I’ve been through that hasn’t been a lesson that led me to this moment, and I can’t believe how great life keeps getting.”

On getting older: “That’s what life is about. Being honest with yourself and not being afraid. Fear and failure and all the things that come with pain are actually the best thing for you – if you go toward them with the purpose of getting stronger.”

On monogamy: “I don’t know if anyone is really naturally monogamous. We all have the same instincts as animals. But we live in a society where it’s been ingrained in us to do these things.”

Some people are monogamous, and some aren’t. That’s all there is to it. I feel naturally monogamous. Been in relationships (and marriage) that I was unhappy in, but never for a moment thought of cheating. And I can get men, but I don’t believe in putting myself “out there” sexually. I value my mind and body. My parents were married for a long time unhappily and later divorced. It’s about the people involved — not marriage as a whole. I believe most long-term marriages have involved infidelity, generally on the husband’s part, but they find a way to go on if they are committed to being married. Still, there are men who would not dream of cheating on their wives. They just seem be hard to find and in the minority.

It’s also easier for some people to adopt Cameron Diaz’s philosophy if they don’t want children. She is 41 already and the way she’s talking, you can tell that being a mother is not her desire. So, not surprised by her words. My guess is that she likely had a troubled family life while growing up, so she wants to remain free. People who grow up in happy families generally want the same for themselves.

Just beacuse all your boyfriends haven’t been able to stay faithful to you, doesn’t mean all people are like that.
