Brennan walked into work the 다음 day, feeling much 더 많이 lighthearted than before. She had thought 더 많이 about what Gordon had said about her and Booth. She realized that, well, maybe....
"Hey, Brennan."
"Angela. Um, can I talk to 당신 for a minute? It-it's important."
"Sure, sweetie. Follow me." Angela led her to her office and closed the door.
"So what's up?" she grinned, eager to hear new gossip.
"It's about relationships, and-"
Angela gasped. "Are 당신 in a relationship?
"No, no, no. It's just that an old friend of mine, Dr. Gordon, 당신 remember him? He said that no matter how unlikely, Booth and I-"
"You are so dense."
"What? Stop calling me dense!"
"I can't believe it took 당신 this long to figure it out!"
"Figure what out?"
"Oh. I guess 당신 haven't figured it out."
"Again, figured what out?"
"Never mind." Angela turned away, fiddling with something on her computer. But Brennan was not one to give up so easily.
"Angela!"
She turned towards her friend and sighed. "Brennan, I can't tell you."
"Angela!"
"All right, all right. God, I have a weak willpower. All right, but, Brennan, you're asking a lot of me."
"I want to know."
"Honey, I'm really not sure-"
"Angela!"
"All right!" She took a deep breath. "I can't believe I'm doing this, betraying a friend. Sweetie, Booth likes you."
"Well, logically speaking, he should because we're partners and friends. I like him too."
Angela rolled her eyes. "God, you're thick! Sweetie, that's not what I meant. Booth is in love with you." She gazed at her fatally logical friend, waiting for Brennan's reply.
Brennan stared at Angela. She suddenly remembered last night, Booth softly brushing the tears from her face, all the tenderness in the world shining in his deep eyes. She remembered what he had said, but now she could fill in the blanks - 'He could never care for 당신 as much as I do.'
But it was illogical. They were only partners. Besides, the FBI would never allow it. What a silly thought! She shook her head. They were nothing 더 많이 than friends. "No, Angela. It's not possible. Anyways, the FBI's rules won't allow any feelings between us."
"Honey-"
"I'll believe it when I hear it from Booth, if I ever hear it from Booth." And she walked out the door. Angela stared after her, sighing. This would not bode well.
"Poor girl."
