Are the 'Vampire Academy' series good?

I'd 사랑 to start 읽기 new vampire series, but it is really hard to find good stuff nowadays.
I HATED Twilight and House of Night series, but liked The Vampire Diaries, Keri Arthur's, J. R. Ward's, Christine Feehan's, Sherrilyn Kenyon's and Anne Rice's series
Shall I start 읽기 the Vampire Academy 또는 is it the 다음 worthless teen-obsession?

I really like it. It is much much better than twilight and house of night. I think it is well written and the characters are well rounded. its not just romance, there is fighting action too
