Bloodborne enemies influenced by \'company presidents\' says M...
With tongue firmly in cheek, From Software president Hidetaka Miyazaki says that the inspiration for some of
Bloodborne’s terrifying enemies came from meetings with presidents of other companies, who he describes (in an interview with The Guardian) as “weird”.
"Now I’m president,” he says, “I get to meet a lot of other company presidents. They’re such weird people. I’m fascinated by them.” With a smile, he adds: “I use some of them as enemy characters in our games.”
Though Miyazaki is obviously joking in this particular section of an insightful interview, it’s fascinating to read about his journey which has seen him rise from the depths of poverty to one of video game’s most revered directors. In the interview, Miyazaki talks about how he lacked ambition until he stumbled across the iconic game Ico and began to wonder whether he could create something as magical.
That game awoke me to the possibilities of the medium,” says Miyazaki. “I wanted to make one myself.”
He was 29 when From Software took him on board as a coder and within 10 years he became President, heading the company that has just produced one of the best games of this PS4 generation, Bloodborne.
Miyazaki has a fascinating story to tell and an incredibly bright future if he continues to produce games with such passion and skill. Check out the interview in full here.
