Bangel vs Spuffy Do 당신 think it was a cop-out that the writers left Buffy's relationship open to both a Spuffy and Bangel interpretation?

I was going to pick the cookie dough one, but as a Bangel fan I loved the scene with Angel.
This is what she says in season 2 Bad Eggs:
Angel, when I look into the future, all I see is you! All I want is you.
And in season 7 Chosen:
I do... sometimes think that far ahead. Be a long time coming. Years, if ever.

It shows how much Buffy has matured as a person and how her character has grown. However, she still loves Angel just as much as she did all those years ago. Why else would she have called Angel back as he was walking away? She was just letting him know that it would be a long time until she was ready to have a relationship.
This is what Joss said about the finale:
"Even though she has a romance with Spike, the relationship with Angel was Buffy's first love. It's too important not to cap it. You can't put a final statement on it. I'm in the process of writing the script now. The show is about life, and the final statement on life is death. On this show, it's not even that. You want to pay homage to the fact that he's a big part of her heart, no matter what, without saying anything definite on what will happen for them in the future."
And also: "The Buffy and Angel relationship transcends everything."

So while Joss did leave the interpretation open, and I would have loved Buffy getting back together with Angel, I'm happy with what I got. Besides, we wouldn't be able to have as many debates if Buffy picked, because one side would always win the argument :)

In a way, she did choose. Angel was right in front of her and she told him flat out that Spike was the one she wanted to be with...that he was her boyfriend in her heart. I think she'll always love Angel in a way...first loves and all that, but both she and Angel had moved on. I think the last sentence was more of an "if only" statement...like they were just trying to say goodbye on a more happy and hopeful note.

Buffy was in love with Spike. Buffy still loved Angel. It was confirmed by Joss. She was 22 years old. She could not decide at that point and not to decide was her right. She had a right to take time. I think it is great that Joss left things open, it was logical and fitting. Her choosing any of them at that point (when she clearly had feelings for both) would have been forced. I am a handcore Spuffy fan, but I admit that an open ending was a right thing to do.

If they'd resolved it, a lot of fans would have been unhappy, whichever way it went. I'm glad they left it open!
