In November 2000,[5] Ken Krongard, an A&R representative, invited Antonio "L.A." Reid, then-head of Arista Records, to producer Peter Zizzo's Manhattan studio to hear Lavigne sing. Her 15-minute audition "so impressed" Reid, he immediately signed her to Arista with a deal worth $1.25 million for two albums and an extra $900,000 for a publishing advance.[6][1] 의해 this time, Lavigne had found that she fit in naturally with her hometown high school's skater clique, an image that carried through to her first album, but although she enjoyed skateboarding, school left her feeling insecure. Armed with a record deal, she dropped out to focus on her 음악 career,[5] but she still had to inform her parents of her decision. "I wasn't going to turn [the record deal] down. It's been my dream all my life. They knew how much I wanted this and how much I've put into it."[16][8]
Lavigne released her debut album, Let Go, on 4 June 2002 in the U.S., where it reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. It peaked at No. 1 on the Australian, Canadian and United Kingdom charts. This made Lavigne, at 17 years old, the youngest female soloist to have a No. 1 album in the UK until that time.[17] 의해 the end of 2002, the album was certified four-times platinum 의해 the RIAA, making her the bestselling female artist of 2002 and Let Go the top-selling debut of the year.[18] 의해 May 2003, Let Go had accumulated over 1,000,000 sales in Canada, receiving a diamond certification from the Canadian Recording Industry Association.[19] As of 2009, the album has sold over 16 million units worldwide,[20] and the RIAA has certified the album six-times platinum, denoting shipments of over six million units in the U.S.[21]
“    I don't get overwhelmed, just because I feel like I've kind of prepared myself for it. All my life this is what I've wanted, what I've dreamed about, and I knew this would happen. I've been 노래 ever since I was really young and I've wanted this so bad, and I told myself I would do it.    ”
—Avril Lavigne on her success, MTV[5]
Lavigne's debut single and the album's lead single, "Complicated", peaked at No. 1 in Australia and No. 2 in the U.S. "Complicated" was one of the bestselling Canadian singles of 2002, and it was also featured on the teen 텔레비전 show, Dawson's Creek. "Complicated" later ranked on the Hot 100 Singles of the Decade list at No. 83.[22]
Subsequent singles, "Sk8er Boi" and "I'm With You" reached the 상단, 맨 위로 ten in the U.S.[23] Thanks to the success of her first three singles, Lavigne was the 초 artist in history to have three No. 1 songs from a debut album on the Billboard Mainstream 상단, 맨 위로 40.[24] For the 음악 video to "Complicated", Lavigne was named Best New Artist at the 2002 엠티비 Video 음악 Awards.[25] She won four Juno Awards in 2003 out of six nominations,[26] received a World 음악 Award for "World's Bestselling Canadian Singer", and was nominated for eight Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist and Song of the 년 for "Complicated" (2003).[27]
In 2002, Lavigne made a cameo appearance in the 음악 video to "Hundred Million" 의해 the pop punk band Treble Charger.[28] In March 2003, Lavigne posed for the cover of Rolling Stone magazine[29] and, later in May,[30] performed "Fuel" during MTV's 아이콘 tribute to Metallica.[31] During her first headlining tour, the Try To Shut Me Up Tour, Lavigne covered Green Day's "Basket Case".[32]
Lavigne was featured in the 2003 game, The Sims: Superstar, as a non-playable celebrity.[33]
당신 say that I'm messing with your head (yeah yeah yeah yeah)
All cause I was making out with your friend (yeah yeah yeah yeah)
Love hurts whether it's right 또는 wrong (yeah yeah yeah yeah)
I can't stop cause I'm having too much fun (yeah yeah yeah yeah)

You're on your knees, begging please, stay with me
But honestly I just need to be a little crazy

All my life I've been good, but now
I, I, I, am thinking what the hell
All I want is to mess around
And I, I, I don't really care about
If 당신 사랑 me
If 당신 hate me
You can save me
Baby, baby
All my life I've been good, but now
Whoooooooa what the hell

What? What?...

"Gottwald was brought onto Lavigne's last album, "The Best Damn Thing," under similar circumstances. "That record was done before Luke got in," Gottwald's manager Mark Beaven says. "Her manager said, 'Look, the record's done. But if he can come up with a first single, we'd 사랑 to do it.' He went in for a few days, the few days extended, and that extended. And they just had such a great time that all of a sudden there were eight new songs [of his] on her record, and eight songs [by earlier producers] that didn't make the record."

"I [Dr Luke] hear this a lot, that the artists...

~ *I copied this from Avril's website (www.avrillavigne.com). This is what she said about the movie!

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to check in and share a bit of what's going on with me right now.
I am so excited! I feel very lucky to be a part of Tim Burton's new film Alice In Wonderland.

It all started off with me designing an Abbey Dawn/Alice In
Wonderland collaboration for my fashion line at Kohls. I was working
at the 디즈니 offices going though graphic 이미지 from the movie for
my designs and getting up to speed on the movie project. I was really
inspired and excited about the film at that moment,...
