Here is part 2 of my little Fairy Tale. I hope 당신 all continue to enjoy it and I appreciate all of the positive support. As 당신 will see, the darker side of the tale comes into play here. Thanks as always to Bea for her fine editing!
As the evening passed, Lisa found it harder and harder to make small talk with her 프렌즈 as she became increasingly entranced with the man at the piano. She studied his arms and hands as he played and imagined them being wrapped around her in an embrace. His neck was simply beautiful for a man. It was long and angled and completed an amazing profile.
During the 다음 break, Mavis in her disguise as a villager approached him to compliment him on his talent. While he appreciated her words, his eyes traveled over her shoulder to the mass of dark hair surrounding two deep blue eyes which sat behind her. For even the magic that Mavis possessed couldn’t compare to the real beauty which had started to win his heart. Mavis returned to her sister, heartbroken.
“It isn’t fair”. She said with a pout.
“What isn’t dear sister?” Replied Melvina with cautious questioning.
“Being a witch is horrible sometimes. Look at her, all of my magic can’t compete. He plays so beautifully. I wish I could just keep him in our 집 where I could listen to him all of the time.” Mavis was 로스트 in her ideas.
“That would be ridiculous and 당신 know it.” Melvina, always the 더 많이 direct of the two quickly dismissed her sister’s musings. She knew how quickly Mavis’s anger could get the best of her.
The 에일, 에 일 continued to flow and the mood in the pub was light and fun and Hugh got ready to play his 다음 song. It was a solo and the thought came over him to dedicate the song.
“I want to play this song in particular to a
beautiful Lady in the audience tonight. This is for Lisa and it’s called, “Moonglow”.
He barely dared to look at her as he played but he also couldn’t help himself for long. Lisa propped her chin on her hands which were held up 의해 her elbows on the table. She gazed at him as he played and felt a softness in her 심장 and a 불, 화재 in her stomach as the tune progressed. Something told her that she would always want to know about the man in front of her. She would always wonder what he was thinking. She saw the emotion of the song in his face, in his fingers, up his arms and even in the way he arched his shoulders as he played. He thought of nothing but the warm light in her eyes as he played. When he finished, Lisa stood first to clap with the entire pub following her lead.
The band completed their last number and began to pack up their instruments for the night. Mavis and Melvina left their back corner and worked their way to the door for their walk home. Lisa moved ever so casually away from her 프렌즈 and closer to Hugh who met her halfway.
“Can I…give 당신 a ride home?” he said, hopefully.
“Actually, I walked here. I live very close.” She hoped he would walk her instead so she would have 더 많이 time to talk with him.
“May I walk 당신 집 then? I am not very far myself and I can come get my car tomorrow.”
Lisa smiled broadly. She was excited for what lie ahead. She nodded a “yes” to him and bid her 프렌즈 a “goodnight”.
They took steps together with a hesitation at first. He held the door for her and her face showed her appreciation.
The night was absent of any moon at all. The summer still hung heavy in the air and the smells of night 재스민 속, 재 스민 danced across their path. Hugh was the first to speak.
“So Lisa, what is it 당신 do?” he drew out her name as he spoke, enjoying the way is felt on his tongue.
“Well”…she bowed her head a bit in her awkwardness. “I am a Veterinarian.”
“Wow! So 당신 work with animals?” He smiled broadly at the thought.
“Yes, I do. I 사랑 animals. They are so accepting and they appreciate everything 당신 do for them.” She glowed as she spoke of her work.
“I 사랑 동물 too, but I have never really had time for a pet.” He said it with a tinge of regret.
“I can understand. I am sure your 음악 takes up most of your time.” 당신 are very good at it 당신 know. I mean…the way 당신 play…well…it’s wonderful. She stopped in front of a small cottage and turned to him, her breath heavy as she met his eyes.
He turned towards her also. Hugh knew that something about this woman would always hold his interest. He would always find her beautiful in every aspect of the word.
“How is it that I have managed to not meet 당신 even though I have lived here most of my life?”
“I have NO idea and I was wondering the very thing about you. Maybe our paths have crossed and we didn’t realize it. But, I would think I would remember you.”
“I am positive I would have remembered you.” His words were so sincere that she felt a barely audible “aww” pass her lips.
She opened her door and turned to him again.
“Thank 당신 Hugh.” Just then her dog Kaplow came bounding past her legs and straight to Hugh.
“Come here Sweetie.” Lisa reached down at the same time Hugh did.
“Hey there fella.” Hugh reached down to pet Lisa’s dog. The dog warmed to him immediately.
“He is a little um…overly friendly sometimes.” Lisa laughed.
“No problem, like I said, I 사랑 동물 too…Um..so can I see 당신 again soon?...Tomorrow night perhaps?”
“Sure. Um…meet here?”
“Yes!” He tried to not sound too excited, but he thought he had failed miserably. Any feelings he had were hanging on his sleeve.
“I’ll pick 당신 up for 공식 만찬, 저녁 식사 at 6:00? Then we can go from there if that is good with you?”
“6:00 it is then! I look 앞으로 to it.” Lisa felt her face flush.
“Goodnight” Hugh said it wishing he could lean over and 키스 those beautiful lips.
“Night. See 당신 tomorrow!” Lisa closed the door behind her and practically fell against it. Her breaths were deep and her thoughts raced. She couldn’t WAIT to see him again. She climbed into 침대 with a book, but she couldn’t read. She couldn’t do anything other than think about those blue eyes. She fell asleep thinking about him.
Hugh climbed into 침대 that night replaying about the events of that evening. His arms circled around a 베개 and he entertained thoughts of it being Lisa instead. He looked 앞으로 to the 다음 night.
Mavis and Melvina walked 집 in virtual silence. Melvina enjoyed the smells of the night and the sounds that the creatures around them made. She never grew tired of the simple magic of all of the things of nature.
Mavis felt the rise in her belly of the green eyed monster of jealousy. It turned and lurched. What she wanted 더 많이 than anything is what she had always wanted, to be a normal person with the same possibility of joy and 사랑 that she had seen tonight. Why couldn’t it be her? Why couldn’t she be in the arms of a man who might
adore her at this very moment.
“Melvina, do 당신 ever grieve for the 사랑 that was never meant to be for us?” the 질문 was simple and yet so very complicated.
Melvina thought about her answer carefully.
“We are not like others Mavis. I can’t grieve for what was never meant to be. There is romance all around us and in all of the things we surround ourselves with.”
“But it isn’t the same. Don’t 당신 see that?” Mavis was full of anger and resentment now.
“I want what I saw tonight. I want what those two people shared between them. I should have a right to just like anyone one else.”
Melvina paused at the gate to their garden and sighed.
“Mavis, we have so many things to be happy for. Don’t we Dear Sister?”
Mavis didn’t answer. She pushed her way through the gate, past the garden and to the greenhouse. She gathered all of the things she needed and in her spite, she cast a spell. This was like no other spell she had cast before. It was an enchantment spell designed to capture the subjects free will.
Melvina ascended the staircase to her room on the third floor of their old house. She could feel a heaviness fill the air and sadness followed close behind. She knew at that moment that her sister had set in motion events which were not in harmony with the world around them. She let a low whistle travel on the air. She pulled back the curtains in her room and looked out over the garden to the greenhouse. She knew that Mavis had acted impulsively. Exactly to what end remained to be seen.
