Gwen has to some extent a bond with the knights of Camelot. Sir Elyan is her brother, Leon was her childhood friend, with Lancelot there is a mutual respect, Gwaine is a good friend. To me the writers are establishing that Gwen is in a way connected with them all. Guinevere is the future 퀸 of Camelot. So the knights are bound to pledge their loyalties to her and protect her when it is needed. It will not be because of her 제목 and their duties, but out of their respect and 사랑 for Guinevere herself.

Guinevere was very instrumental in the code of chivalry towards women that the Knights of the Round Table are known for. Their love for her and her influence over them created that code that wouldn't have existed at the time. Women were treated as propety to be traded, forced into marriage for male advancement, treated like children or ignored altogther. But with Queen Guinevere the worth of women was evaluated extensively.
