and then Maleficent. I don't like Maleficent but it wasn't as insulting as Brave, which made it feel like Pixar was trying really hard to make a princess who "wasn't like other princesses"

Either Enchanted or Brave. I think Maleficent was not that great of a remake, and I wish they made another one that stuck closer to the original like the Cinderella (2015) one was.

I think Maleficent is the most offensive and mocks the original DisneySleeping Beauty (it's obvious right since how they change the characters and storyline way too far from the original -_-). Brave come close, but only with Merida's characteristic imo.

Enchanted however, has some moments when Giselle is considered as a weirdo due of how she act just like classical princesses, but that makes sense because she's in a realistic modern world which most people don't believe with classical fairytale tropes like true love's kiss and such.

While Enchanted is an outright parody, it feels good-spirited, and while they poke fun at Giselle and Edward, they are not villainized - on the contrary, everyone gets their happily ever after. Maleficent totally ripped the characters and, concerning Brave, Merida is admittedly built around the notion that the previous princesses where just pretty faces who sat around, twirling their dresses and waiting for men to come rescue them.

I don't like Enchanted. It's another parody, just like Frozen is.

I definitely see some parodic (..is this a word?) moments, like "Happy Working Song", but ultimately I think it's trying to be more of an homage than downright insulting.
And I don't think it craps on the whole "True love at first sight" trope as much as Frozen does because in this case it makes sense due to the realistic setting, and also Edward & Nancy get married at the end having known each other 5 minutes, which leads me to believe the writers were having fun with it. Whereas Frozen is primarily still a fairytale that takes itself too seriously at times.

I'm probably in the minority here but I don't find Brave insulting at all. Also, Merida's not intended to be a parody of the DPs, she's intended to be a foil to them.
