Alex Pettyfer just made a big reveal about his relationship with former

co-star Channing Tatum during an interview with Bret Easton Ellis on his podcast B.E.E.

When asked about the rumors about them not getting along, the 25-year-old actor responded, “It’s true. Because Channing Tatum does not like me — and for many reasons [and] many being my own fault.”

Alex explained that because of his “bad boy” reputation, he was urged to keep a low profile on the set of the hit 2012 movie.

“I was scared to speak. I actually did my work and I sat in the corner and listened to music because I had been told anything I did was wrong by my reps,” Alex said. “I was very insecure as a human being. That also gave me a bad rep because everyone was like, ‘Alex doesn’t speak because he thinks he’s better than everyone else.’ That’s not true. I was just generally nervous and scared to be myself. I was in character.”

The situation got a lot worse when Alex failed to pay rent to a friend of Channing‘s at an apartment complex. Alex said he moved out due to allergy problems.

“All of a sudden, I got a very negative email from Channing — rightfully so — saying, ‘Don’t f—k my friends. You owe money. Pay the f—king money. Don’t be a clown.’ And I really took that the wrong way, which I shouldn’t have, and emailed him back and said, ‘I’m in a real negative headspace and can you respect me for a moment and blah, blah, blah.’ And I got hounded through this time of grieving for money,” Alex continued. “By the end of it. I just said, ‘F—k them, what is money when life is so much more. I’m not paying.’ And I should have just paid. I think he was looking for an excuse to not like me.”

“What Channing says goes. He’s a movie star. I made the poor decisions,” Alex said. But added, he learned from the experience. “Channing was actually an incredible influence on me because after this whole situation happened — this was kind of the end of my immaturity and all my experiences put into one. It was an incredible experience making Magic Mike. I wouldn’t replace it for anything.”

Guess unemployment brings back humility. Channing should know how that feels….he was in those shoes for a long time before he managed to become famous.

Dang regardless is Channing a debt collector.. he should have stayed out of it. His friend is not a baby.

He seems kind of scattered. It was him, it was Channing, back and forth. If you did something wrong say you did and leave it at that. You can’t accuse someone of trying to find a reason to dislike you when you admit to acting like a fool. On top of that he’s dragging someone else’s name through the mud after the fact, he is hardly credible.

I noticed their chemistry was off in Magic Mike. There was a disconnect with the two trying to play friends. I can understand why. Alex has always had the bad boy reputation.

I don’t have a problem with him Channing defending his friend. He wrote him that email because he was looking out for his fellow actor/colleague. If he didn’t care, he would have said nothing. Although Alex has some major films under his belt he’s still pretty green. Your success in Hollywood is largely dependent on how well you get along with others in the industry. He was reminding Alex of that by calling him out on his bullsh*t. He was helping him out, not poking his nose where it shouldn’t have been. Channing did a good thing, not a bad thing.

I remember reading that there were issues with more than just Channing.

Can any of you actually even imagine having to say the line “What Channing says goes. He’s a movie star.” to someone and being serious about it? LOL!

Or, like Alex said, he was looking for an excuse to express his dislike for him.

He is saying that he was misunderstood and that certain actions (like the rent incident) exacerbated that.

i don’t feel bad for alex in the slightest. he was an asshole and someone needed to put him in his place. glad channing did it. and i hate channing. i guess i like him more now.

With my life experiences, most people who say, “He/she is looking for an excuse to dislike me.” Are those who have poor social awareness skills (typically teenagers) who are slow to take responsibility for how they come across to others. Channing is an adult and is clearly more mature than Alex. Teens do this, “Oh, my parents are just trying to give me a hard time. Oh, my teachers always give me shit.” Alex is being a brat. Channing is not pulling reasons out of his ass to punish Alex. Channing is being REAL. If you can’t see this then you are just as immature as Alex.

If you had any reading comprehension skills at all, you would have read the part where Alex said that he was quiet and kept to himself on set. I know many people who are like this & many people misinterpret it as being rude when that may not be the intention. If people already have this negative view of you in their head, any mistake you make is almost seen as proving them right. Like Channing, you seem to be a hothead looking for a fight. Check yourself, buddy.

What you are referring to is how some introverts can be mistaken as rude or mean. This is not about his perceived introversion but his relationship with his colleagues. Most people have bad reputations for a good reason. It is very likely that the two experienced some friction behind the camera. There is so much that could happen between two people while filming that we don’t know about. The kid is obviously immature and has a lot to learn compared to his more experienced costars.
