세베루스 스네이프 질문

A little help with my fanfic?

I just started 글쓰기 a SeverusxHermione fanfic. Do 당신 think I'd get a lot of readers if I don't put much "Adult Content" in it? because I don't plan to.(Well, okay, I'd put some but not as much a fangirl is expected to.) I want to make it sweet and not flaming hot 또는 erotic 또는 anything of the sort. All I plan to do is to show the readers how the two characters would fall in 사랑 and things like that...I need your opinion and maybe I would change my mind. :)

Posting your story when it's complete is great for some writers. I don't do it that way. I serialize. Nearly everything I've published on line I've done that way. If I know I have people waiting to read what I'm writing, I feel motivated to write, because I don't want to let the readers down, and it helps keep my own interest up. If I'm not posting until the entire story is complete (or mostly complete), it's just not going to get done. No one is waiting to read what I'm writing, no one gives a damn if I don't post it, I have no motivation to finish. But then, I have issues, and it just works better for me to do installments.

As for Content Warnings: 당신 have got to be aware of your readership. One of the worst things 당신 can do is to squick a reader. (Squick: "The physical sense of repulsion upon encountering a concept 또는 situation one finds disgusting.") Once you've squicked someone, they'll likely never read your work again. It's also just a courtesy to your readers, who may not be 읽기 당신 on their 집 comps, 또는 may have little ones around, and a Content Warning in the header is nice for them to have.

Find what style is right for you, and go for it! Good luck with whatever 당신 choose to do. :)

I quite agree, but I want it really polished and I write pretty slowly, (not that I AM slow, I just want everything checked first) I plan to put some -as LadyNottingham said it- steamy stuffs, I'm just not sure if I am THAT good in writing, yet. But I certainly will, just not as torrid as that fanfic I've read once. Thanks, anyway!

BH is right about the squick thing. So the M rating + something like "Beware Adult Content" + warnings in Author's Notes are wise precautions. I had once a review 의해 a reader that had complained about a blowjob in one of my stories. She had found it disgusting and that I should have warned. I replied to her that readers had been warned 3 times, that the M-rating was not there for decorum and she should have paid attention to the author's notes. I bet on my readers' intelligence but sometimes I'm wrong. LOL

Another piece of 조언 I may give 당신 BTW : reply to your readers when they leave 당신 a review, first to thank them. It's always nice to share a few thoughts 또는 give explanations and explore new ideas with one's readership.

If there isn't much Adult Content, then 당신 don't have to rate your story with a M for mature.
and stories without a M-rating are 더 많이 read then stories with a M-rating because those stories are normally hidden. (you have to change the rating above the page to see M-rating stories)

So I think 당신 get 더 많이 readers if the story hasn't much Adult Content.

It's not the rating that makes a good story, but the plot, the characterization, the correct spelling ang grammar, etc.

Some stories have an adult content, even very graphic, but if it serves the plot just right, no problem. Some authors also note their story as PWP (Porn Without Plot), but at least, we know where we're about to tread upon. The worst is when people insert steamy stuff that is completely useless 또는 a bit Mary-Sue 또는 whatever.

Rate it M if 당신 plan to have some steamy stuff. Otherwise, there's no need, so don't. Some readers expect steamy stuff if the story is M-rated !

당신 may also change the rating even if the story is published, like on FanFiction.net, for example.

Remember, what makes a good story is the plot and how the story is told.

Good luck with your story and keep us 게시됨 about your progress !

That was actually something I DONT want to do: The PWP. Seeing that it's my first time to write, will it be okay to finish it first 또는 I'll make people wait for the 다음 chapters?

I advise fanfic writers to write their stories almost complete before posting them. In case of a change of plot, it is still possible to change, while when it's posted, it looks weird with the readership. I start posting when I have completed 더 많이 than 80% of my story. After that, 당신 may post 1 또는 2 chapters per 일 또는 per week. Regularity is the key to keep your readership on their toes.

I must confess that, although generally I'm not much of a porn reader, when it comes to Severus I mostly look for steamy fics. But I am a freak who's sexually obsessed with him ;-P
