Velocity is the general speed of an object in a given direction. Basically, that is the most general definition, so I'll go into 더 많이 detail.
Velocity is different to speed and acceleration. Acceleration is the mechanism of a car gaining speed, while speed is the rate of change, in position, of the object itself. A vector is the direction that the object is heading in and deals with any changes to the object's direction.
Velocity deals with all of these, as it revolves around the object moving in a direction, as well as the given speed of said object. For example, if a car is travelling at a speed of 100 km/hour, the car's speed has been specified... If a car is travelling at 80 km/hour, due north, then its velocity has also been specified.
I'll quickly touch on constant velocity. When an object reaches a certain speed, while being acted upon 의해 the forces of gravity, that object cannot change its speed. This would be true if someone were to go skydiving, where forces of gravity are 연기 upon the skydiver's body and keeping them from slowing down, as they jump out of the plane at a certain speed and then keep gaining speed, as they are falling. This is what is known as constant velocity, as the skydiver is remaining at a constant velocity, from the initial speed and the forces of gravity, 또는 gravitational energy.

The relation between velocity and speed: Velocity is a vector which means that it must have a direction. Speed has only a magnitude. As an example:
An airplane has a speed of 450 miles per hour
An airplane has a velocity of 450 miles per 시간 due North
The relationship between speed and velocity is that the magnitude of the velocity is equal to the speed.
The difference between velocity and speed: In physics, speed is defined as the rate of increase (or decrease) of distance travelled,with time. Linear velocity is the rate of increase (or decrease) of distance traversed 의해 a body in a particular direction. Speed is defined with the omission of reference to direction. Thus, velocity is a vector quantity and speed is a scalar one.

ASSUME I SLAPPED ON YOUR FACE. ...
SPEED :-------- Speed is a scalar quantity that refers to "how fast an object is moving."
VELOCITY :--- Velocity is a vector quantity that refers to "the rate at which an object changes its position."

How fast my hand is moving to slapped on your face, this is speed
When 당신 get the slap and changes your face from right to left.. i.e the rate at which your face changes its position, this is Velocity
