Yes, yes. I understand that. But how can 당신 tell the difference? Between those who really care & those who just want to look like they care? And climate change, yeah. You're right. But I don't see why it has to interfere with this.

Trust me, when someone really cares about something, you'll know about it. It's not that it is interfering with this per se, but I don't see why a whole load of people will suddenly, just start caring about this issue after many years, but no-one will ever do the same for climate change.
