​When One Direction announced their next MITAM single would be \'Infinity\', everyone was just sort of like \'Oh right, cool\'. Not that we don\'t all love the song (it\'s quite clearly brilliant), but it wasn\'t the big, kick-in-the-balls send off that the fandom wanted before the hiatus.

With all the recent TV performances of \'History\', the lyrics about living forever and it not being the end have turned it into a bit of a fan anthem, so IMAGINE THE JOY when 1D revealed yesterday that they\'d changed their mind, and they were gonna release \'History\' instead.

If you haven\'t got a good imagination, it looked a bit like this:

It\'s fair to say that the surprise decision has gone down pretty well across social media because the lyrics are pretty much PERFECT for summing up the future of the band, and yesterday Twitter was quite frankly AWASH with Directioners giving the nod of approval in ways that only they can.

While some freaked out, others got way more emotional about the swapsies.

Many fans were happy to have actually been listened to, which is pretty cool.
