질문 about Mary and George's romance? Does he really 사랑 her?

Sometimes I get a feeling that George doesn't like Mary. On Mary's side, 당신 see a lot going on but on George's side-not so much.
I know he fell for her during the high school reunion dance but later in the film starts to lose it.
I understand he wants to travel to 유럽 and build stuff but thanks to his dumb brother, he couldn't. However, why couldn't he marry Mary AND travel to 유럽 and build stuff? Haven't he thought of taking her with him?
