It\'s official: there\'s only two more seasons left of
... and the show\'s creators know exactly how they\'re going to pan out.
David Benioff and Dan Weiss – showrunners of the HBO series – have revealed that they\'ve already mapped out the fates of all major characters.
"For us, we know where we\'re going," they told the
"We know where the final season\'s going to end. We could write the final episode right now if we had to."
only has "two more seasons" in it – but would not be drawn on a specific episode count.

"We\'re not entirely sure… we\'ll probably do seven [episodes next season]," they said.
"The two seasons will be a bit shorter. We don\'t have a definite episode count, but each season will be a little bit shorter [than usual] – just because each year it takes longer and longer to shoot."
This Game of Thrones fan theory could be massive: Does Jon Snow have a twin sister?
Benioff and Weiss also insisted that while HBO would love
to run and run, the cable network has bowed to their plans to wrap up in 2018.
"I\'m sure on some level [HBO would] love to see the show carry on beyond the seasons that we\'ve got planned, but they trust the people that they work with.
"So [if] we tell them that the story ends here and there is no real story beyond that endpoint, they stick with it."
But do their plans for the show\'s climax involving resolving the fate of Gendry (Joe Dempsie) – last seen paddling his way to an uncertain fate?
"He\'s still rowin\' – think of the shape he\'s in after rowing for four seasons!" joked Benioff.
will return in 2017 - though is expected to miss its traditional April launch date.
