I remember visiting this website once...
It was called Game of Thrones: catch-up machine.
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Four seasons of Game of Thrones have already passed on HBO - and Season 5 begins on April 12th.
There are a hell of a lot of characters being continually fed through a machine of intrigue and tragedy, and it can be hard to keep track of everything. Luckily, the kind folks at Lovereading.co.uk have put together this handy catch-up machine, so you can refresh your memory ahead of the new season. Who did Arya kill last year? Who crossed Cersei? It\'s all laid out for you right here.
Of course, we\'d be remiss not to remind you that the books are better. And also, if you can\'t wait to find out what happens, we\'ve built The Game of Thrones Spoiler Machine.
Be sure to share with any Game of Thrones lovers!
Lost his head in King’s Landing for treason (season 1). Lord Eddard was initially granted leniency if he would retract his accusations on Joffrey’s linage and would be allowed to live out his days at the wall. After falsely testifying his guilt, he was executed by the Kings Justice, Ser Ilyn Payne.
Killed at the red wedding (Season 3) in an act of treachery orchestrated by Lord Walder Frey, Roose Bolton and Tywin Lannister. Her body was supposedly thrown in the river after her throat was cut by Raymund Frey.
King Robb betrothed himself to a daughter of House Frey, an alliance which he later broke when he fell in love with Tulisa Maegyr. The young wolf met his fate at the red wedding (Season 3). He was betrayed and killed by the scheming of the Lords of Frey, Bolton & Lannister, eventually being stabbed through the heart by Roose Bolton. To add further insult to the North, the Frey’s removed his wolf’s head and sewed it onto his body.
Although presumed dead at the hands of Theon Greyjoy by most, the youngest of House Stark is still alive to our knowledge. Along with Osha and Shaggydog, Rickon parted ways with his brother (Bran) and his whereabouts is yet unknown.
The little crippled lord has had a perilous journey. Not only did he have to escape The Boltons, but he and his companions also had to fight off traitors from the Nights Watch and a group of whites, losing Jojen Reed. He is accompanied by his direwolf Summer, gentle giant Hodor and Meera Reed. He is currently with the Three-Eyed Raven and The Children of the Forest, learning the ways of the Greenseers.
Hodor is still with Bran and is currently with the Three Eyed Raven and The Children of the Forest. Hodoorrrrrrrrrrr.
After fleeing King’s Landing (Season 4) for her assumed part in the regicide of Joffrey Baratheon, she is now hiding in secrecy at the Eyrie under the protection of Lord Petyr Baelish. Interesting times are ahead for Sansa as Little Finger teaches her how to play the “Game of Thrones”.
After roaming the Seven Kingdoms with companions such as the Hound, Gendry, Podrick and Yoren, Arya is en route to Braavos.
Loyal Ser Roderick was beheaded quite woefully by Theon Turncloak in Season 2 when he tried to take Torrhen’s Square back from The Ironborn.
Loyal Jory Cassel was killed in a street brawl between guards of House Lannister and Stark. He succumbed to a knife through the eye at the hands of Ser Jamie Lannister in season 1.
Beheaded by the King in the North for treason in Season 3. Rickard Karstark sought vengeance on two innocent Lannister boys for the deaths of his sons, killed in battle and strangled by the king slayer. His death led to Robb Stark losing much of his army.
Maester Luwin was considered a father figure to Bran when Ned left for Kings Landing. He schooled Bran on the way of the world and assisted in Bran & Rickon’s escape from Theon. His end was came as a spear in the gut from a member of Theon’s Ironborn raiders.
An unfortunate & innocent casualty in the mayhem started by Joffrey & Cersei Lannister at the end of season one. Her head was removed and put on a spike to signify house Stark as traitors and enemies of the throne.
8-fingers Jon was last seen feasting at the red wedding. We aren’t sure if he died with so many others or is being held captive at the twins.
After accomplishing near-victory in the war of the 5 kings, The Lord of The Rock set to stabilize the Seven Kingdoms again. He was eventually murdered with a crossbow by his son Tyrion whilst sitting on the privy in the final episode of season 4. An embarrassing end for a man who tormented Tyrion his whole life.
The spiteful creature born from the incestuous twins of House Lannister. He drank too deep and met his fate on his wedding day (season 4). After a manhunt for his former betrothed, Sansa Stark and the arrest of her husband Tyrion Lannister, it was revealed that he was poisoned by the Queen of Thorns and Petyr Baelish.
Young King Tommen succeeded the throne after his brother Joffrey was poisoned at the purple wedding (season 4). Not only did he inherit the throne from his older brother but also his bride. A stickler for hand-me-downs.
Not much has been seen of Myrcella after Tyrion shipped her off to Dorne in season 2. However, Season 5 promises to be an interesting time for her as Dorne comes into the fold following the death of their beloved Red Viper, Prince Oberyn Martell.
The beautiful but hateful daughter of Tywin Lannister is still ruling as Queen Regent in Kings Landing. Season 4 was a tough time for Cersei as her firstborn and Lord Father were both killed. Carelessly creating more enemies, she is set on ending the life of her imp brother Tyrion and his runaway bride Sansa Stark.
The younger brother of Tywin hasn’t been seen since their victory over The North. He has returned back to the Westerlands but is due in Kings Landing to attend the funeral of his later brother and possibly more.
Another incestuous concubine to the Queen Regent and wounded in the Battle of the Blackwater in Season 2. Lancel, returned to the west to seek recovery. His part in future of Game of Thrones is not known.
Tyrion is in deep trouble for the deaths of both King Joffrey and his Lord father Tywin Lannister. After being set free by his brother Ser Jamie, The imp has had to flee kings landing in a shipping crate, assisted by his hot and cold friend, Varys.
The legendary fighter is now Lord Commander of the King’s Guard. The troubled lion changed in seasons 3 and 4 after he lost his sword hand to Locke. Jamie’s internal conflicts make him one of the show’s most interesting characters.
The grandmaester, who served six kings, takes over the Small Council when Cersei is arrested by the faith (AFFC). He fears The Tyrells seek to kill him after confessing to the faith he served Margaery moon tea. He is murdered by Varys to sow turmoil between The Lannisters and The Tyrells (ADWD).
Despite being useless with a sword, the spiteful child beater is somehow still alive and guarding King Tommen. He did make it on someone’s list though for his hand in the muder of Syrio Forel. He was able to beat Syrio because he had armour – and a big fucking sword!
Blow-darted by everyone’s favourite assassin Jagen H’ghar in season 2. Arya named Amory Lorch as a gift to the god of death when he caught her intercepting an important message from Lord Tywin.
Alive. (Still hasn’t gone to King’s Landing)
The Mother of Dragons is learning to rule in Mereen after conquering Astapor and Yunkai whilst bringing freedom to thousands of slaves in the process. Dany learnt some hard truths in season 4, first betrayed by Ser Jorah Mormont and secondly, the devastation that her dragons leave behind as they grow. The last episode ended in her trapping Rhaegal and Viseron underneath a great pyramid. However the winged-shadow Drogon still roams the wild.
Aegon is the son of Prince Rhaegar and Elia Martell. He is the son of King Aerys’ heir, so his claim to the throne is stronger than his aunt Daenerys’. His identity is revealed to Tyrion Lannister, as they are both travelling to meet Daenerys. Tyrion convinces Aegon to turn back and try to take Westeros (ADWD) and he is last seen announcing his intention to lead a raid on Storm\'s End.
His petulance and spitefulness went a step too far when he threatened the Khaleesi at sword-point. The beggar King met his end at the hands of Khal Drogo and a pot of molten gold.
A slave set free by the mother of dragons. She serves Daenerys as a translator and advisor.
Now the Lord Commander of Daenerys Targaryen’s Queensguard. Ser Barristan fled King’s Landing after being released of his service by then King Joffrey Baratheon. He travelled east in search of the mother of dragons, saving her life against the poisonous scorpion set on her by warlock Pyat Pree.
Probably licking his wounds after being banished by Daenerys after she found out he had been spying and informing on her in season 1. Season 5 promises the return of Ser Friend Zone although we don’t yet know his true intentions.
The cocky, but handsome Daario is now lover to Queen Daenerys. A prize he has been trying to capture since severing the heads of his captains in the Second Sons and bringing them over to her side.
The Commander of the Unsullied (the greatest warriors in Essos) is utterly devoted to the cause of Daenerys. The former slave soldier of Astapor is now on the Queen’s Council.
Dany’s blood rider was killed by a rival Khal in season 2 whilst searching for life outside the red waste. His head was sent back in a bag. Rakharo’s soul could never join his ancestors because they butchered him like an animal and never burnt his body.
In the wrong place at the wrong time, Irri was Strangled by Doreah in season 2 after she discovered that Dany’s dragons had been taken.
Bought as a slave by Viserys. Doreah taught Dany the art of love making. She was later locked in the volt along with Xaro Xhoan Daxos for betraying Daenerys.
Dear friend of Ned and father of 15 bastard children, he was killed by a boar (Season 1). Queen Cersei commanded her lover and concubine cousin. Lancel Lannister to get him drunk whilst hunting which ultimately led to his demise.
The proclaimed saviour of the Seven Kingdoms and rebel to the Iron Throne. King Stannis is currently at the wall after coming to the aid of the Night’s Watch in their defence against the wildling invasion. It looks like the watch will be in his debt.
King Renly saw it as his right to claim the Iron Throne against the laws of Gods and Men. Gentle Renly met his end at the hands of a shadow baby birthed by Melisandre in season 2. He was stabbed through the heart whilst being guarded by Brienne of Tarth.
The magical red priestess is currently at the wall with King Stannis Baratheon after seeing a great battle in the snow in her flames. She has convinced many men to trade their false gods for R’hllor. Who knows what demons she’ll stir whilst at Castle Black?
Survivor of the Black Water and witness of demon babies, The Onion Knight and his hard-nose negotiation tactics with the Iron Bank of Braavos helped rebuild Stannis’ army before they set sail for the wall. After helping Stannis defeat the wildlings, he waits at Castle Black with the king.
Mathos was converted to the lord of light by Lady Melisandre, which sat uneasy with Davos. He was sent to a watery grave by Tyrion Lannister and his trick with wildfire at the Battle of Blackwater Bay in season 2.
The cold Selyse has travelled north with King Stannis and daughter Shireen. She is turning into a fanatic of R’hllor and will do anything Melisandre asks... even standing by her husband after finding out that Melisandre slept with Stannis!
The daughter of King Stannis is cursed with greyscale. She has also travelled north to Castle Black. Though this was not the wish of her mother Selyse until the lady Melisandre said they she would be needed... for what we cannot say.
It appears that the bastard just doesn\'t know how to die. After being strangled by a Wight, climbing a 700 foot wall, being shot by 3 arrows, defending a siege-battle and having his head smashed into an anvil ... Jon is becoming a natural leader among the men of Nights Watch.
From a craven piggy to a warrior. When Sam isn’t busy slaying white walkers and raising Crasters boy, he spends his time in the dark reading. The well educated softy has become pivotal in the war against The Great Other. His father would be so proud...
Poor Jeor Mormont was betrayed by a group of Nights Watch deserters and stabbed in the back in season 3. The Old Bear had stopped off at Craster\'s for shelter and ended up becoming the drinking cup of Karl Tanner.
Old and wise but blind as they come. Maester Aemon is thought to be the last of the Targaryen dynasty. He is considered the voice of reason at Castle Black.
The younger brother of Lord Eddard Stark was the First Ranger of the Night’s Watch. He hasn\'t been seen since Season 1, but the absence of a body means he may not be dead! His disappearance is the spark which leads to the tragic Great Range North at the end of the first season.
Swordplay with a giant was never going to end well. Grenn and 5 others nobly defended the gate below the wall but were overwhelmed by the giant Mag the Mighty.
Pyp proved pretty useless with a crossbow. He was killed by the expert marksmanship of Ygritte who shot him through the throat in the wildling attack on Castle Black in season 4.
Melancholic and sarcastic Ed took on the unlikely leadership role of defending the wall, fending off a wilding attack with some great scythe action.
The expert knife fighter was part of the crew that betrayed the Night’s Watch and were held up in Craster’s Keep for most of Season 4. Jon Snow and some brothers ranged north to put an end to it, which also saw Jon reunited with his direwolf Ghost.
Slashed open by Tormund Giantsbane at the battle of Castle Black. The foul mouthed, hateful Master-of-Arms will be back to torment Jon Snow in Season 5.
Janos arrived at the wall in season 4 polluting the air with his dissent and cunning. He proved craven when the battle ensued and was found hiding in the stores room by Sam.
The best archer in his hamlet sought out revenge on the wildlings for killing and eating his family. His shot was the nail in the coffin for Ygritte.
The halfhand commanded Jon Snow to kill him in season 2 to win the trust of the wildling camp. His plan was a success as many wildlings were glad to see the back of him.
Was ambushed in Season 2 with Arya, Gendry, Hot Pie and others on his way north to the Night’s Watch. He shared his disdain for crossbows as he took a bolt before slicing up some Lannister soldiers. He met his end at the hands of Ser Amory Lorch.
In a battle that was the highlight of season 4. The Red Viper of Dorne was a huge fan favourite and had managed to get the better of the mountain before his pride got the better of him and he lost head… and brains…and eyes…
No longer the paramour to Rhe Red Viper. The last we saw of Ellaria was the mentally scaring image of her covering her face with her shaky hands as Oberyn’s skull was crushed.
We last saw King Balon Greyjoy in season 3 unwrapping and opening a box of what looked to be Theon’s member. Although his name was called in Melisandre’s prayer with the leeches, we haven’t seen him perish… for now.
“Reek Reek… I’ve always been Reek”. Theon is currently having an identity crisis after being flayed by the bastard of Roose Bolton. He’s now become a sick pet for the bastard and has utterly forgotten his former self.
Tomboy Yara was last seen in Season 4 trying to free her brother Theon from The Boltons at the Dreadfort. She fought her way to the dungeons but was set upon by a pack of savage dogs, which surprisingly didn’t manage to bite her like Theon did.
Mace Tyrell is Lord of Highgarden. He came to the aid of the Lannisters on the Battle of the Black Water to help defeat Stannis Baratheon. He also sat on the judge’s panel at Tyrion’s trial in Season 4. He is considered a pompous old oaf by his mother Olena Redwyne, but he does hold a lot of power.
Queen-to-be for the third time. The ambitious Margaery is now betrothed to sweet little Tommen. She is under the careful watch of Queen Regent Cersei who doesn’t trust her.
Gallant and handsome Ser Loras Tyrell is the bachelor of Highgarden. He is a skilled swordsman and was intimate with his late brother-in-law, King Renly Baratheon.
The Queen of Thorns is the real power in Highgarden. Season 4 revealed that she was the culprit behind the poisoning of Joffrey, however her cunning saw her exit the city without a hint of suspicion.
Cold and calculating Roose Bolton was last seen heading for Winterfell midway through Season 4. He has been named Warden of the North for his part in the betrayal of the Starks at The Red Wedding. Let’s hope The North Remembers.
The lucky bride to Roose Bolton. Fat Walda was chosen by Roose after Lord Walder offered him a bride of his choice and her weight in silver. Naturally Roose chose the heaviest option. She is now in the North with Roose.
Ramsay is now the natural born son of Roose Bolton. The twisted former bastard enjoys cruelty, and when he’s not peeling Theon’s skin, he’s out hunting and trying to win the approval of his Lord Father. In Season 4 Ramsay took Moat Cailin by offering the Ironborn amnesty if they surrendered…. He then skinned them alive.
After maiming Ser Jamie’s sword hand, things were looking up for Locke. He returned north with the Boltons and was ordered to track down Bran and Rickon Stark beyond the wall. Hodor put an end to this shambles pretty quickly by twisting his neck from his shoulders. Hodor smash.
Ramsay’s bit-on-the-side and just as twisted as he is. The couple enjoy strolls in the countryside looking for innocent girls to shoot with their bows.
Old Lord Hoster Tully was the father to Catelyn Stark. He passed away in season 3 of old age. His cause was for the north, though his lands paid dear for it.
A captive of The Freys, whose hospitality may be questioned. Edmure was forced to marry a Frey bride in a bid to excuse King Robb’s earlier mishap. He married Roslin, but was taken hostage in the event known as The Red Wedding.
We’re not sure on his whereabouts but we know he’s still alive. The talented warrior no doubt has a debt to pay The Lannisters, The Freys and The Boltons.
We think the mountain has survived his poisoning by The Red Viper with the help of Qyburn’s strange healing powers. We now have Game of Thrones’ very own Frankenstein’s monster, only this one has a huge sword.
The troubled dog refused to hand over Arya Stark to Brienne at the end of Season 4 and paid a high price. Many have come to like the ferocious chicken-eater but it looks like his time came when Arya left him to die of his wounds near the Eyrie.
The death of Jon Arryn was the catalyst to pretty much everything that’s happened so far. Although we were led to believe that the Lannisters had poisoned him, we found out that it was the work of Petyr Baelish and Lysa Arryn in season 4. “Chaos is a ladder” once said the great Lord Baelish.
Sick Little Robin is the son of Jon and Lysa Arryn. He has been sick since birth. He is also a little bit mad, no doubt passed down from his mother.
Lysa confronted Sansa at the Eyrie, accusing her of kissing Petyr Baelish. After trying to push Sansa out of The Moon Door, she was calmed by Petyr’s soft words… which turned to a quick shove and a plummet of over a thousand feet.
Offered to champion the Lady Lysa Arryn in the first trial-by-combat of Tyrion Lannister. However, Tyrion’s quick mind saw him name Bronn as his champion. The sellsword outsmarted the knight and threw him from The Moon Door.
The Jail guard at the Eyrie is in charge of the sky cells where Tyrion was kept as a prisoner. He is now a rich man after receiving a bag of gold from Tyrion after his survival in the trial by combat.
The likely culprit behind Jon Arryn’s poisoning, Ser Hugh was silenced by the Mountain in the tourney of the hand in Season 1 which mean he couldn’t testify to the poisoning of Lord Arryn, much to the dismay of Ned Stark.
Still Alive. (Proof that there’s no justice!)
The sly and cunning Lord Walder Frey has passed 90 years old, which makes him a legend in Westeros. Lord Walder was behind the betrayal and slaughter of House Stark at The Red Wedding. His crimes against The North and the tradition of Guest-Right will never be forgotten.
Too many to count… They’re all pretty pretty scummy.
Arya’s dancing master was killed by Ser Meryn Trant and Lannister guards when he refused to hand over Arya in Season 1, though he did not go down without a fight, serving up Lannister guards with a wooden stick. We never actually saw him die… and as he always said to the God of Death… ‘Not today!’.
The mysterious Faceless Man helped Arya escape the Lannisters at Harrenhal, killing three people of Arya’s choice. The skilled assassin also escaped and is thought to be travelling back to Braavos for his next assignment. Will he and Arya cross paths again?
The Head of the Iron Bank of Braavos was introduced in Season 4 to Stannis Baratheon and Davos Seaworth. He drives a hard bargain but will be seeking the money owed to him by the Iron Throne. “Sooner or later the Iron Bank always gets their money back”.
Reanimated corpse. Undead and still recruiting throughout the lands beyond the wall.
We saw a more mystical side to the White Walkers in Season 4 and found out what they want with all these baby boys. They are still the single biggest threat to the Seven Kingdoms.
We think the leader of the White Walkers is in fact the Night’s King, an ancient Lord Commander of the Nights Watch who fell in love with a pale white women with eyes as blue as ice… He was the guy performing the ritual on the baby in season 4.
The Lightning Lord has struck out more than twice and refuses to stay dead. We haven’t seen Lord Beric since season 3 after he sold Gendry to Melisandre.
The Red Priest was last seen with the Brotherhood Without Banners. Many years of being a non-believer in the lord of light, he now has a restored faith after he managed to bring back Beric Dondarrion from the dead.
Saved from the marauding ways of the Dothraki by Daenerys, this Woman-of-the-Sheep is taken into her retinue. Her duplicitous magic kills Daenery’s unborn child to revive a brainless Khal Drogo. So Daenerys burns her at the stake to bring dragons to life. As you do.
The young Reed is a greenseer who was destined to lead Bran Stark to the Three Eyed Raven. He was killed on the journey north of the wall after being set upon by a group of Wights that burst from the ground just outside the cave of the Three Eyed Raven.
The oldest Reed sibling is a skilled fighter and has been taking care of Bran Stark north of the wall. She survived the ambush from the Wights outside the cave of the Three Eyed Raven. However she was unable to save her brother Jojen, who perished.
Brienne of Tarth is still trying to serve the holy vow that she swore to Lady Catelyn Stark. Last season saw her roam the Riverlands and the Eyrie in search of Sansa Stark. She stumbled across another Stark, Arya… Brienne and The Hound came to blows when she tried to claim protection of Arya. Brienne beat The Hound and threw him from a cliff, only to lose Arya in the process.
Podrick Payne was once the brave squire to Tyrion. After Tyrion’s arrest, Jamie saw that he should escape the city and become squire to Brienne. Both are currently trying to find Sansa Stark.
The mighty Dothraki Horse Lord, tamed by a woman who likes to be on top. His life was saved by the strange magic of Mirri Maz Duur, sadly his wits were not. In the end Daenerys grants him death by pillow (season 1).
The bastard son of King Robert Baratheon was last seen in season 3. He joined the Brotherhood Without Banners and was then sold to Melisandre for her need of king’s blood. He was teased and then set upon by leeches. Davos helped Gendry escape but he has not been seen since.
The disgraced Maester, thrown out for immoral practice (magic). He now resides in King’s Landing and is set to become Cersei’s new pet. His current project... bringing Ser Gregor Clegane back to life.
A skilled and witty sellsword originally under Tyrion’s employ. He refuses to fight for the Imp in trial by combat when he hears The Mountain would be his opponent (season 4) but instead took Cersei’s deal to marry Lollys Stokeworth. He is now under the employ of Ser Jaime, helping him to recover his sword skills.
Taken a break from life in King’s Landing. Varys left after helping Tyrion escape from the cells. He understands how the Game of Thrones is played, using his ‘little birds’ as leverage.
Also known as Littlefinger. Having fled Kings Landing with Sansa Stark he took control of The Eyrie after shoving Lysa Arryn from The Moon Door in Season 4. He later manipulated some of the Lords of the Vale to support his stewardship which led to Robert Arryn leaving the vale for the first time.
The Lord was in cahoots with the master of whisperers Varys and was last seen supporting Viserys in Pentos by gifting him a Dothraki army in return for the marriage of his sister.
A survivor of Arya’s hit list... so far. Ser Ilyn took the head of Ned Stark when he served as executioner under Joffrey Baratheon. We last saw Ser Ilyn in Season 2 at the Battle of Black Water.
The Grandmaester Pycelle grew a fantastic beard under the 4 previous kings he served, however this was cut off by Tyrion when he found out Pycelle was spying for Cersei.
Shae is a prostitute who began a relationship with Tyrion at the Battle of the Green Fork. She then goes to Kings Landing with him. Their relationship is compromised when Cersei learns of her. This led to Tyrion trying to send her to safety. Seen as a slight, Shae turned up at Tyrion’s trial and falsely testified against him, an act that she would later regret after he found and strangled her on his escape from the cells.
Speculated as Lord Brynden Rivers (Bloodraven). The Three Eyed Raven is slowly turning into a tree. He promises to teach Bran Stark the way of the greenseer in the last episode of Season 4.
A prostitute of renowned beauty, Ros was originally working in Winterfell but decided to relocate to King’s Landing for more opportunities. There she finds employment under Petyr Baelish as a spy, but then turn’s double spy to help Varys. She was later executed by Joffrey with his beloved crossbow.
Employed under Petyr Baelish. Young Oliver is a male prostitute who is employed to spy on the great houses in King’s Landing. So far he has added Ser Loras Tyrell and The Red Viper to his list of clients.
Seen briefly in Season 4. Hizdahr Zo Loraq is a slaver in the free city of Mereen, where Daenerys currently rules. He stands to play a much bigger role in the coming season.
The pirate captain is once again supporting the cause of the rebel King Stannis Baratheon. He is owed a lot of gold. and Cersei Lannister by his reckoning.
Fat little Hot Pie was in Arya’s crew that escaped Kings Landing for the Nights Watch. He was captured and taken to Harrenhall finally finding work at an inn where his baking skills kept him safe. There he remains.
By promising to “fuck Arya with a stick”, he bought himself a place on her list. She caught up with him on her travels with The Hound and stuck him through the back of the heart with Needle.
Rorge and Biter caught wind of the bounty being held on Sandor Clegane. He bit the Hound\'s neck which resulted in a serious case of broken neck for himself. Never bite a dog.

We saw the Giants fight at the wall in season 4. Both were killed by men of the Nights Watch but we are unsure if that’s the last of their kin. They are fierce fighters but still couldn\'t overcome the strength of the wall.
