To be honest, no only because she needs to see
them together. I think that to be with Damon she needs to know Stefan to understand. They are similar in my opinion good and bad.

If Stefan wasn't around, Elena would've been dead before she met either Stefan 또는 Damon. Though she met Damon before the accident, Damon compelled her to forget and so technically she didn't know either brother until Stefan decided to stop stalking her and come forward.
