Not much of a political savant, what with her scorning powerful princes. Besides, while I think it brings a positive message (especially to the young audience), speaking your mind without any filter is not always wise.

She's told not to go into the West Wing and she does it anyway, not thinking that the Beast could be keeping something there that could harm her. Then she decides to run away, not realizing that the Beast could come after her father and put him back into prison until he dies. Not to mention that she left by herself defenseless against hungry man-eating wolves.

despite that she was able to figure Prince Ali to be Aladdin, as in general and being a royal princess, she lacked the intelligence needed to act her role.

I think Cinderella is rational as she immediately assumes the fairy godmother and her magic isn't real. When it comes to being emotionally smart, I wonder where she stands because of the way she tries to stick up to her stepmother after knowing her so long and knowing her personality and how that wouldn't work and furthermore lead to more punishment for 'talking back'. I do think it was very smart of her to think of Bruno to come open the door but it wasn't too rational that she didn't figure out she was dancing with the prince the entire time when everyone else in the room stopped and the curtain was drawn for them, so I don't think her IQ is above average. That being said, I don't find her to be very intellectually curious (not that she has too much time for it) and we don't really get to see her street smarts in play.

Despite reading so many books, Belle doesn't come off as the most rational as she makes a lot of spontaneous emotional decisions that don't make the most sense for the situations. That being said, she seems to be very emotionally smart in the way she talks to her father, Gaston, the Beast, Lumiere, Mrs. Chips, the Wardrobe, Cogsworth, etc. and seems to understand the individual differences between them. This is especially shown when she is able to manipulate them to check out the forbidden West Wing, although that conflicts with survival and IQ smarts but emphasized intellectual curiosity at the same time. When it comes to other street or survival smarts, she really doesn't seem that privy. The way she gets Gaston out of her house when he is trying to push himself on her is also a clever move on her part. As far as IQ, she seems like she's probably slightly above average for her peers since her father is an inventor (and very intellectually curious) and she likes to read books (albeit fantasy) whereas most people in her town don't/can't read. For women, she is ahead of the curve reading when most women are not and although her focus is on adventure, she seems very intellectually curious (though not as much as her father).

I honestly think that Jasmine is one of the smartest princesses, even if she lets her emotions get the best of her a lot of times. She seems negatively biased towards the princes but I think this is because she has experienced so much negativity with Jafar and other previous princes as well as having a lack of experiences with others positively. For this reason, I think she is emotionally smart when it comes to suspecting someone but not as emotionally smart when it comes to trusting someone. She picks up on many things that Aladdin says that come off very smart but there are also some blatant inconsistencies on his part to her which she never addresses, which conflicts with her best moments. I think her running away without any knowledge of her kingdom was not smart but aside from that, I think she is incredibly clever and a very quick learner with a likely slightly above average IQ. She seems somewhat intellectually curious, not the most but not the least.

^thank you for your detailed input. I'd say your interpretation makes a lot of great points. I agree on points that you share for Jasmine completely. But then again, it would have shown much intelligent on her part if she was able to capitalize on her princess position rather cleverly. She's only shown whining about what she isn't getting rather than utilizing her position.

I think Cinderella was pretty smart to lay low most times, knowing her outspokenness could ask for trouble. She was also smart to keep herself busy rather than making herself depressed about the situation. She was going to stitch her dress on her own, which she was shown she'd have if not being called by the stepsisters, which makes her book intelligent to be able to read and follow instructions.

^ I agree with your points as well, I just think altogether Jasmine is the smartest of the 3 that I mentioned even with her faults. I think Jasmine is like Top 5 smart whereas I don't think Cinderella or Belle would be in the Top 5. :)

I think Belle, Rapunzel, Tiana and Cinderella are all pretty close in terms of intelligence and all in the middle of the overall rank compared to the others.
