He did seem very preoccupied and even though he was trying to push tradition on her and expecting her to know her "duty" was he never really seem to teach her these things and let her run wild....yeah do whatever you want but then when you are of age...BAM...why are you not behaving and doing what I tell you to do!?..There was no mother there to teach her and prepare her, but yet he expected her to know these things without his guidance...Like the other single fathers you have to be mom and dad and not expect these girls to just fall into line when you want them too, they have to be taught and regulated from the beginning...That is where The Sultan,Maurice, Triton, and the Chief failed, they acted like just a dad, when a child needs a mother's influence too and they did not step up to the plate and be mom too or at least got a mom figure to help.....

He played favorites with his daughters just because his youngest looked like his wife. Next would be King Fergus, Prince Eric and King Stephan

I'm glad Triton hasn't left yet. But Fergus needs to go already. There is NO way he's a better dad than Maurice and the Sultan!

He is way too forceful when it comes to his kids, and having his opinions put on them, and is too unreasonable. Breaking your kids stuff and constantly patronizing them because they did not do what you want only pushed your children away. Ariel is his FAVOURITE (sigh) because she is the best singer and because she is the youngest. I do not see how he is a better father than Chief Powathan.

I would vote for King Fergus next

I chose Fergus because he undermined Elinor's attempts to discipline the children. He also let the boys run wild, and Merida as well.

He's not half the father the rest are.

I don't think he's better father than Triton, to be honest out of these two I'd choose Triton as my father. Maybe I'm old fashioned or weird or what ever but I believe bounds are love(that's freely translated proverb, I don't know if there's similar in english) and to me it's would be horrible if couldn't get any fatherly attention from my father. Besides Triton at least did learn to show his love in right way in the end. But I'm not really defending him, he has much room for improvement. It's just in comparison with.
