He did not pay enough attention to her and let her get away with way too much sass....and basically he rewarded her temper and disregard to tradition by giving in to her in the end and changing a law that had been in effect for generations....Also did he even notice when she came up missing?

Oh, for crying out loud, Triton better not go next. He is not a bad dad (well, he sure plays favorites and spoils Ariel rotten, but he isn't cruel or neglectful to her). I bet he will, though, because he isn't an impossibly perfect dad like Rapunzel's, who we never get to see do anything imperfect.

Anyway, Fergus basically acts Merida's age. He is entirely submissive to Elinor in every situation, even rearing Merida, which he leaves up to her. He's the fun parent, and the dad should be the one ready to dole out discipline if need be and be a good leader for his kids. Fergus is a loving dad but they made him into a boorish, buffoonish man-child who can't do anything without his wife holding his hand to help him and doesn't control his kids, though he's probably the one they would all actually listen to.

Triton? I use to think he was a bad father but now I know how ignorant and naive I was, he's a great father. He makes mistakes and is too hard on Ariel but no parent is perfect. Anyway with him it's because I really don't like parents that chose who their kids will marry. At least with Sultan, even though he was forcing Jasmine to get married, didn't force her to marry someone she hates and allowed her to chose for herself, as long as he was a prince. Besides in the end he let's her chose who she will marry even though he's not a prince.

I acknowledge he sacrifices himself for his daughter, and that's very valuable, but he's still not a good parent figure. It's not about being strict, it's about the way that's carried.

I think Triton is a very good dad. He did make Ariel spoiled, but in the same time he cared a lot for her well being, and basically was ready to give up everything for her. And in no point he was forcing her to marry somebody, which is a huge plus!

As I have said before, he doesn't listen to his son and plans that son's life without any consultation.
On another point, I love Triton, and he definitely isn't the worst dad still there

He might be a good chief, but as a father, he isn't really approachable for Pocahontas.

I think it's a little bit too early for Triton or Hubert to go...and I agree. Fergus is more on the bad side of parenting, because he doesn't do any, he just spoils Merida rotten and leaves it to Elinor to be the "bad" parent.

I actually like his character but I think he'd be better uncle than father.
