I assume she missed out the end of the quote and that the entire thing is "I hope it's cool with the cops if I send an army of enraged fans on the attack....that's legal, right? as long as I don't do any of the actual rioting myself?"

I really hope he's not just going to be completely passive about this and not do anything. Either send some lawyers on the attack, publicly insult it so people know it's not official Buffy or ride in on a white horse and write/direct it (If no white horse is available I'll accept a white pony or bicycle)

You see Ive been feeling the anger ever since the news broke today but if you think about Joss can do nothing. He doesnt own Buffy and him raging out about this can only hurt his image. *Sad Face*

I still hope Joss says something less positive. I get the high road approach, but it wouldn't have to be a rant. Just a nice official statement letting people know this isn't the real Buffy and does not have the support of those involved in the show, only the people behind the move no-one liked.

Or better yet, using the fan outcry for publicity get his own Buffy movie green lit and release it on the same day as the Kazui one. That would destroy them at the box office in such an epic way. Plus he has more motivation to make a movie now, to save Buffy's reputation (I know, I know. I'm dreaming. Still, the thought of him releasing a Buffy movie the same day as theirs and destroying them at the box office really put a smile on my face)

One of the comments I read there spoke of the new Star Trek and a "new Buffy for a new generation." But the original Star Trek series began in the 60's and then they had "The Next Generation" in the 80s. And I realize there have been a bunch of movies and whatnot, but really.. Buffy has only been over for, what, 6 years? Too soon for a Buffy revamp.

If commomsense prevails, nothing the fanbase says will stop the new movie. Either it will surprise us all and be good or it will be awful and flop. Who cares? We still have the original series on DVD to enjoy whenever we wish. As for the original cast and crew making a competative movie - they've all moved on in their careers and we shouldn't expect them to go backwards just to satisfy our selfishness.

I think if common sense prevailed the people making this movie would realise what a bad idea it is, since it's a character who relies heavily on her core fanbase, and they managed to alienate so much of them. They've pissed off their target audience and almost guaranteed it will flop.
I agree no bad movie can stop the series being great, one reason I care (aside from Joss being one of my favourite celebs so I'm naturally offended by the lack of respect they're showing him and his work) is that Buffy picks up new fans all the time, if people who never saw the show see the movie first that's what they'll judge the show on. It will put people off (Iknow it took a hell of a lot of convincing to make me watch the show since I saw the movie first and thought it was dreadful)

Also, frankly I don't think it's selfish to hope a character we are very attached to doesn't have her good name dragged through the mud by an awfull movie (I know the way these people make movies and also believe Joss' wrting is invaluable to making BTVS work. It will be terrible) What I think is selfish beyond reason is to shamelessly use a character as beloved as Buffy in a way you know the fans will hate without the creator's consent just for a quick buck!

(by the way, I really went on there, if it came off a little hostile in your direction, it wasn't meant to. I was just answering some points you made)
