Why did the first evil need Spike?

In "First Date" the first evil says that it's not time to use Spike. What was it waiting for? What was its plan for him?

The First was waiting for the best time to use Spike against Buffy and the Scoobies. The First never got a chance to get to spike because 1) He was too strong and 2) Buffy, Spike, and the rest of the gang attacked the First in a surprise attack when The First wasn't expecting them.

It never got the chance because the trigger it was using against Spike 로스트 its power before that best time occurred.
