Bella and Carlisle - "Never Too Late"

makintosh STORYLINE (This is from Carlisle's Point of View, though it doesn't seem like it sometimes.) The moment Carlisle set eyes on Bella, he fell in love with her. It was just instantaneous. However, he concentrated on just loving her from afar. To his surprise, though, Bella reveals that she loves him, too. The only problem is that she wants to become a vampire just like him, and he keeps refusing to let her be one, only because he doesn't want her to "end [her] life". (Haha! You can see where the lyrics come in, can't you?) Feeling rejected, Bella seeks out Edward, who had his eye on her all along. Carlisle does nothing to stop her. Bella dreams about Carlisle and herself one night. She is startled from her sleep to hear Carlisle say, "Stop! You've got Edward!", and she sits upright in her bed. Carlisle leaves (not seen) before she can say anything. Next thing you know, Carlisle is leaning over Bella weeks later, moments after she had been bitten by another vampire (well all know who that was). He's trying to comfort her but finds that he can't find the right words. He suddenly is overwhelmed with flashbacks, memories of Bella before she had been bitten...especially those of her and Edward. Carlisle is jolted back to the present, and Bella is still laying there, writhing in pain. He's trying to tell her that it's not too late to save herself. Carlisle is confronted by Edward who tells him, "Be with her, because she'll be so much happier with you and with what she'll become." Carlisle goes back to Bella's side and stays there as she's undergoing the 'vampiric' change...and he realizes that Bella got her wish to become a vampire and be with him - so, maybe he wasn't too late from keeping her from her deepest wishes.
