I remember visiting this website once...
It was called 여우 talks author Sarah J. Maas | Columns | rockwallheraldbanner.com
Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
My column, as most of you probably know, is called “Talk Nerdy To Me.”
Because I love books, TV shows, books, movies, books, chateaus and books. For awhile I wrote about a different book almost every week. Since that has not happened for a while, I feel like this column is overdue for a little literary madness.
Let me just tell you about this author. She is awesome. Her writing is good, clean and engaging and her characters… I’m going to get started.
She writes believable and strong characters. Her characters have been through the tough stuff — she does, in fact, make them go through the tough stuff, but I’m trying not to take out my rage on her — and they come out on the other side. It isn’t simple and it isn’t pretty, but it’s real.
Maas is the author of the “Throne of Glass” series and “A Court of Thorn and Roses.” Both book series are phenomenal and both are told from different points of view. “Throne of Glass” is a third person and “A Court of Thorns and Roses” is first person.
Normally, I don’t like to read first person stories. They are, generally, poorly written and not as engaging for me to read.
However, since I read “Throne of Glass” first and had to wait — I am still waiting — on the final book, I decided to pick of “A Court of Thorns and Roses.” I didn’t like the male lead at all. He was such a horrible person and she had written him as the lead. I was outraged. I almost stopped reading. He literally does nothing in all the books until the end of the second book and you find out he has made all the wrong decisions. But at that point, you have already met the real male lead — Rhysand, what a lovely person. Maas had duped us all into a false male lead and I couldn’t have been happier.
So, the final books in both series are coming out this year. It’s going to be devastating, although not as devastating as the ending of the most recent “Throne of Glass” book, which was a whole new kind of tragedy. Nothing will ever be as devastating as that. Or so I hope — internally begging Maas not to kill my favorite characters…which is all of them. Except for Tamlin.
We don’t even know the title of the sixth “Throne of Glass.” It’s still a mystery. But the third installment of “A Court of Thorns and Roses,” which was followed by the second installment, “A Court of Mist and Fury,” will be called “A Court of Wings and Ruin.”
I can’t decide if “wings and ruin” bodes well or not. On the one hand, that false male lead, Tamlin, could be destroyed. That would be delightful. But on the other hand…wings….ruin…so many possibilities I don’t even want to contemplate for the hundredth time.
Basically, if you don’t mind a little young adult — beware, these are for the older people in the young adult genre — fantasy with extremely well-plotted and intelligent story lines, strong characters, women who run the world and save it, and men who aren’t afraid of such powerful females, then these books are for you.
