“Describe the people 당신 were fighting,” Becca demanded, walking around the scene some more. “How intelligent were they? And no stupid 답변 Wally. This is important.”
“They seemed able to mimic our abilities in a way,” Artemis offered. “Smart enough to bow out gracefully when we beat them but not very smart besides.”
“And how did they fight? Did they seem...learned in certain forms of combat?”
“Yes. Artemis and I both seemed to be even with them,” Megan said.
Becca nodded and her eyes narrowed. She switched off the infra-red but kept her night vision on.
“What did 당신 boys notice about them?”
“Boys?” Wally asked.
Becca sighed.
“Fine. What did 당신 men-and Wally-notice about them?”
Artemis smirked at Becca's reference to Wally and Wally stuck his tongue out at the back of Becca's head. She turned, weapon still in hand, to glare at him.
“They seemed quite capable of harming us.”
“But they weren't very fast,” Wally injected.
Becca shushed him and turned back to Kaldur.
“What else?”
“Had above normal strength. Not superhuman but stronger than most humans.”
Becca clicked her tongue.
“What about 당신 Connor?”
“They were aggressive, at least the ones I fought were. And they seemed to have a telepathic link.”
“The 더 많이 I ask, the less I know. What about 당신 Wally?”
“Not super strong, not aggressive, not able to mimic my unique abilities-” Becca rolled her eyes at him- “but they seemed to know where I would be and when I would be there.”
Becca's eyes widened and she turned back to the scene of the crime.
“Now I understand. Each person was designed uniquely to take on each member. And, 의해 the looks of it, several of them were a little too prepared. Unfortunately, this could be my fault.”
“Did 당신 create those...thing?!”
“No. But I'm the only one who can take Robin down and get away with it. And get myself away. I think these...creations were designed after me like the others were designed after each of 당신 and your faults.”
“Are 당신 saying Robin doesn't have faults?”
“No. Robin has his flaws; fortunately he knows them all too well. He doesn't know mine which would make me the legitimate 출처 to be fashioned after. And if it wasn't me then we have a problem. I can't think of anyone who would be able-and willing- to take Robin down.”
“You'd be willing to take your own boyfriend down?” Megan asked.
“If the need be. It is highly unlikely that will happen but I would if I had to. In order to protect others, 당신 must be willing to take the enemy down fast and your allies down faster. Something I learned a while back.”
“So not only would 당신 take your enemy out but you'd take out Robin if it was better for the people?”
“Yes. Not just Robin though, any ally I have; including all of you. But-wait. How'd we get on this topic?”
“Uhhhhhhhhhhh...oh yeah! 당신 said you're the only one able and willing to take Robin out!” Wally reminded. “And I could take Robin out!”
“Yeah but you're not willing and-argh! Wally shut up!”
“What'd I do?!”
“You're distracting me!”
Artemis came up beside Becca, touching her shoulder.
“Ignore Wally and relax. With your help we'll find Robin and 당신 two can go make out 또는 something after the rest of us welcome him back. Okay?”
Becca smiled thankfully at Artemis, a small touch of humor in her eyes.
“Thank 당신 Artemis.”
Said archer nodded and smiled back, squeezing her shoulder. Becca took a deep breath before turning back to look for 더 많이 clues. She pulled a collapsible 애로우 from her 벨트 and took Artemis' bow. She launched it into the air, giving the bow back, and watched it land.
“Um, I don't think it worked,” Wally whispered.
Artemis glared at him.
“Shut up Wally.”
“Take a closer look Kid Doubting. That 애로우 wasn't supposed to do much. It released an almost invisible smoke that revealed footprints, tire tracks, and everything else 당신 couldn't see before. Now, take a look around and tell me if 당신 see something I missed. But do NOT touch anything besides the ground.”
Becca stared at the sky. She headed towards a tree, releasing the metal claws in her 장갑 tips. She climbed to the 상단, 맨 위로 of the 나무, 트리 and looked down at the ground. The air in her lungs was quickly squeezed out of her and she swallowed a scream.
“Miss Martian! Get up here!”
Megan quickly flew up to Becca and looked at her white face.
“What's wrong Becca?”
The girl pointed to the ground and Megan looked behind her. Her hands flew to her mouth as she gasped at the scene before her.
