Well… This was something I wasn’t looking 앞으로 to after my break from 글쓰기 articles. Worst stories of 2017, relating to video games anyway. How bad are they. Well, funny 당신 should say, because they’re pretty bad. Let’s have a gay old time, and try not to hate the world too much 의해 the end of this, shall we?
#10: Metal Gear Survive
Hey, remember when Phantom Pain was as bad as the franchise ever got? Yeah, those were simpler times. And now, Metal Gear Survive, one of the most insulting things that have ever been released. Metal Gear Solid was a franchise that I really loved, despite it being a pain to follow at times. After Kojima left Konami during the whole FucKonami event of 2016, Konami now had full ownership and control of the Metal Gear franchise and could do whatever they wanted with it. And the first game they made… Was Survive. An uninspired and dull zombie game with little to no references to the original franchise. Aside from being generic as can be, Konami was making sure to make this game hated 의해 the public, especially with the release of microtransactions, some considering it to be the worst in gaming. For every new save 당신 wish to make, 당신 have to pay ten dollars each time if 당신 want to make seperate saves. I’d say this was the last straw, but knowing Metal Gear fans, they were pretty much out of straws from the beginning. Metal Gear Survive was rumored to have undersold completely, even less than other games like Metal Gear Rising and the constant disappointment that is Phantom Pain. For all we know, this as the last chance of reviving the Metal Gear franchise, but like Castlevania and Silent Hill, may Metal Gear Rest in Pachinko.
#9: Battlefield V Debacle
As someone who gave up on FPS games entirely at some point in life, I never really had any interest in the Battlefield franchise. My family mostly played Halo, but even that franchise got shitty after a while. What I do know is that Battlefield V was a game that people just decided that enough was enough. A 년 after the Battlefront 2 disaster and only a bit after the EA E3 2018 shitshow, what with Command & Conquer being a mobile game and the most interesting games being indie games, Battlefield V was the one thing that everyone looked 앞으로 too… and they fucked up. They fucked up REAL bad. With people claiming that it was pandering real hard, while at the same time, mocking the legacy of soldiers that fought in World War II, rather than just ignoring the 코멘트 or, god forbid, trying to appease consumers, EA’s chief 디자인 officer, Patrick Soderlund, calls the critics uneducated and tells them to not buy the game if they don’t like it. And buy it, they did not. Not even two weeks into Battlefield V’s release, EA was already forced to cut the price in half, with a majority of the lobbies empty. No one is playing this game right now. As for Patrick, he left the company only a short while after his 코멘트 was made. Maybe. Just maybe, EA should think about trying to appeal to their consumers rather than disrespect them… NAH!
#8: IGN Reporter Rips-Off Smaller Reviewer for Dead Cells Review
Okay, first off, let me just say that I don’t care about what IGN says. Everyone complains about how they are the worst review site. But there’s this thing called… opinions. That being said, Filip Miucin can suck my luck. For his review of Dead Cells, a game that released this year, people started to notice some similarities to another review 의해 a small channel called Boomstick Gaming. And 의해 similarities, I mean it was a complete shameless rip off of his review. Some words were flipped around, but it was clearly the same review. After word got out about this, it was proven that he had done this with other reviews several times, and Filip was fired 의해 IGN for what he did and the company was forced to deal with even 더 많이 backlash 의해 people who already didn’t like the website. As for Filip, he was blacklisted from all other gaming news outlets and made himself look even worse 의해 his idea of “apology” videos, 의해 telling everyone to forget about it like it was nothing, followed 의해 trying to get sympathy through playing the victim. End result, Filip is no longer 글쓰기 reviews, while Boomstick Gaming has gained traction thanks to this, and Dead Cells has become one of the best games of 2018. So yeah, happy ending here.
#7: Red Dead Redemption 2 Crunch Time
Red Dead Redemption 2 has easily become one of the most bought games of all time. Sure, it’s no GTA V, but like that days ever gonna come. That being said, there is clearly a lot of work put into this game. Like… a lot of work. Almost illegal amounts of work, some may say. With all the details in the game, all the open world stuff, all the horse testicle shrinking in the cold, and all that kind of stuff, it clearly took a ton of time and money to do, and considering there were 100 hours of work a week from all employees, yeah, a whole lot of time. And yes, 당신 did read that right. A hundred 시간 work week. I’m sure there were some people who were 더 많이 than likely excited to work on this game and wanted to see it finished as much as the Rockstar executives were… But that doesn’t exactly justify the fact that 당신 can’t do that, Rockstar. Hey, maybe if they spent 100 hours in the beginning of Red Dead Online, maybe I’d be 더 많이 than happy with the effort put into it. I’m not saying this hurts the game at all, and I am hoping that the team who worked on it were given proper payment and adoration for their hard work, but still, what the hell, Rockstar.
#6: End of Telltale Games
Okay, now, even though I haven’t really given a shit about any Telltale games since, like, The 늑대 Among Us, I still cannot deny that they were able to make some great games in their time. The Walking Dead game, at least season 1, was amazing, it’s story and characters were interesting and I really cared for their survival, and The 늑대 Among Us was a great look into a 더 많이 dramatic neo noir interactive experience. And I’m sure the 배트맨 games were good. I never played them, but I heard good things. Also Minecraft: Story Mode…. Yeah. But regardless, problems with Telltale started in 2018 when investors started pulling out because of Telltale unable to make any major hits after the first Walking Dead game. After the last investor pulled out, Telltale was forced to lay off a majority of their employees, while twenty five remained to complete the Final Season of their Walking Dead franchise, with 늑대 Among Us Season 2 and Game of Thrones Season 2 더 많이 than likely cancelled. Worse for Telltale, after laying off employees, they were sued 의해 former employees due to their lack of understanding and possibly violating the WARN Act. I’d be lying if I said I was heartbroken that Telltale was dead, but I can’t deny that they had some talented people on board, and seeing the company go is definitely a major event in the gaming world.
#5: Cliffy B, Boss Key, and Failed Releases
Aw shit, Cliff Bleszinski, 더 많이 commonly known as Cliffy B, former member of Epic Games and having a major role in the creation of the Unreal Tournament and Gears of War franchise, it was clear that this man had some talent and that working with him may be a pretty good idea. And then 당신 remember that Boss Key is also going to be mentioned. If you’ve followed gaming news for the past year, 당신 would know that Cliffy B’s own company, Boss Key, has not had the best luck recently. Boss Key has been responsible for creating only two games. Lawbreakers, an online game that was advertised as being a cool, darker version of other online games, and nobody played it. It wasn’t even a bad game, just one that came at the wrong time. Their 초 and final game, released earlier this year, was Radical Heights, a game trying to get in on the battle royale craze, and was played 의해 like twelve gaming Youtubers who were curious before it died out completely. After this massive blunder, Cliffy B decided that enough was enough and closed down Boss Key for good. It is rumored that Cliffy himself stated in a rage on Twitter that he would never be making video games ever again and would just go into retirement. I cannot 확인 if this is 100%, but I can say that it is highly likely, given the shit that went down.
#4: Fallout 76
It all. Returns. To nothing. It all comes tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling down. Holy shit, I have never before seen a constant stream of mistakes, blunders, and fuck ups quite like Fallout 76. I was trying real hard to be the naive child that kept saying, “No, they can fix this”. But now, I’m not too sure. If this game just got a 2/10, it probably wouldn’t have even been mentioned on this article, but this gets even worse with how much shit went down in this game. Aside from a game that has no real story, servers that crash constantly, and glitches so absurd that 당신 will never see the same ones twice, there are patches that they make for this game that only make the game buggier than they originally were. But then we get to the worst of it all. The infamous Power Armor Edition, which comes with a new bag that was said to be canvas, but instead, was nylon. What does that mean? I dunno, but it pissed people off and they were given 500 atoms, ingame currency, which is about $5 in our world, which 당신 can use to get sunglasses and some gloves in the game. And after they tried to right this wrong, they only made it worse 의해 accidently leaking every single person who bought the Power Armor Edition’s personal info for the world to see. How in the fuck 당신 do that, I don’t know. After this moment, I don’t think 76 is even salvageable. Let this game die and never return.
#3: The Death of John Peter Bain, AKA TotalBiscuit
We did lose some great creators in 2018. Stan Lee, creator of Spider-Man and other amazing Marvel heroes, and Stephen Hillenburg, the creator of Spongebob. But in the gaming community, we 로스트 John Peter Bain, known online as TotalBiscuit. A well respected member in the World of Warcraft and esports community, he was never afraid to give his opinions on games in general. Without him, I don’t think the critic side of 유튜브 would be the same. He was in inspiration to many online, and it is a real shame to see his life cut so short at the age 33. He was a well respected person in the gaming community, and he will be sorely missed.
#2: Counter Strike Co-Creator Arrested for Sexual Exploitation
당신 all expected this to be a really funny article, huh? Thought I’d be shit talking just Metal Gear Survive 또는 talk about how awful the Sonic the Hedgehog movie poster is? Yeah, I wish things were that simple too. On February 2nd, 2018, Jess Cliffe, co-creator of the online game Counter Strike was charged with sexual exploitation of a minor. Jess met with the girl, who was sixteen, and paid her for sex, even videotaping her against her will. Of course, he was found guilty and was sentenced t-three months?! I mean, yeah, he admitted, but what the fuck?! This is all something that came out of nowhere, and yet not enough people talk about it. Sure, Jess is nowhere near as big as say Jared Fogle, but still, the fact that he is getting off this easy for something like this is just kind of sad. Sure, he’s got 1 years of community custody, but that alone just makes me feel sick. Your sick, Jess.
#1: Jacksonville Landing Shooting
On August 26, 2018, at Jacksonville Landing in Jacksonville, Florida, a video game venue hosted a game for Madden NFL 2019. David Katz, one of the players, 로스트 the game and refused to shake the hand of the winner. He walked out, returned shortly, and opened 불, 화재 on the 150 occupants of the building, killing two and injuring ten before pulling the gun on himself and committing suicide. Yeah it’s hard to take in.
2018 was not an easy 년 for games, that’s for sure. But, as it comes to a close, as does this article, let’s end it with looking at the good that happened this year.
Spider-Man for the PS4 is one of the greatest returns for both Spider-Man games and the company Insomniac games after so long.
God of War is one of the greatest returns to a classic franchise I have ever seen in my life
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has so much new characters, including 더 많이 M rated characters and FINALLY Simon Belmont
Detroit: Become Human is a Quantic Dreams game and it doesn’t suck completely
Casltevania on Netflix is one of the greatest video game adaptations I’ve ever seen
Seeing Dante again in Devil May Cry 5 trailers fills me with a ton of joy.
Mortal Kombat 11 and Psychonauts 2, a game that I thought had no shot at existing, have been announced and are coming.
Fortnite is bringing children together. I personally don’t care about Fortnite, but seeing it slowly bringing kids together instead of having them bully each other actually fills me with hope and I can respect it for that. I’ll happily accept all the cringey Fortnite dance 비디오 there are if it means I get 더 많이 hopeful events like this.
Indie games are getting far 더 많이 support than ever before, with the Switch supporting them heavily and Celeste being compared so some big budget games. I was looking into 글쓰기 for games myself, and knowing that the chance to make your own game increase 더 많이 and 더 많이 with each year, and seeing big companies like 닌텐도 support that kind of thing really fills me with joy and actually, some hope for my future.
And finally, seeing the entire community hate the Sonic movie. Yeah, managed to sneak it in there. But seriously, fuck that shit
#10: Metal Gear Survive

Welcome to Clearwater
Coming November 10th
Greetings everyone. Since my 가장 좋아하는 time of the year, Halloween, is almost upon us, I wanted to do something very special. Sure, the same old “Top Ten Whatever” will still be there, and will be up every Saturday of the month, so expect five 상단, 맨 위로 tens every Saturday this month. But, even bigger news, thanks to my Corner of Horror article, I’ve got something REALLY special. And what might that be? Well, on October, for the 다음 31 days, I am going to pull out a 랜덤 horror movie that I have lying around and review it. These reviews may not be as lengthy as most, but I will try my best to talk about a good (Or most likely bad) Horror movie. “But Wind, doesn’t Cinemassacre do this every October with Monster Madness?” Shut the hell up, I say to those who think that. Just enjoy this 년 of October, enjoy Halloween, and enjoy all the new Corner of Horrors coming up. I know I will.
