“Hey look! Palekit’s standing there like a bird!” Mistkit teased. “She’s turning red!” Pitchkit added to their parents, Flystar and Jayfur. “Mistkit! Want to go play in the dirt where Palekit should be? I mean, wormkit? She’s going to be a tunneler!” “Flystar is our father! He can do anything- even kill you!” Pitchkit mewed. He kept jeering at Palekit. Palekit purred as she grabbed a ball of dirt. “Want to play dirt ball?” Palekit challenged. “Sure! With wormkit, of course! She’s not going to be too fun to-” As Pitchkit spoke, dirt slapped his face. “Soil in my eyes!” Pitchkit cried. “Flystar! Get rid of her!” Pitchkit demmanded. “No!” Flystar spat at him. “At times like leafbare, Palekit should be a great tunneling apprentice!” Jayfur meowed. “I don’t care! She got soil in my eyes!” Pitchkit whined. “We were just playing!” Palekit rolled her eyes. “Want to play?” Pitchkit asked. “Yes!” Palekit purred. A sudden dirtball flew at her face. Palekit jumped aside as she dodged. 더 많이 balls kept coming at the kit. She dodged again and again. She had a giant dirtball in her paw. With all the strength of Strippedclan, she flung the dirtball at her 굴, 덴 mate, and Pitchkit fell to the ground with a thump. Palekit had won the dirtball fight once again. “Pitchkit, Mistkit, 당신 shall both be known as Pitchpaw and Mistpaw.” Flystar announced. “And, Your mentor will be Hareflight. Mistpaw, your mentor shall be Bearfoot. Sandpaw, 당신 shall be known as Sandclaw. 당신 have sat your vigil. Thank 당신 for your skills and courage. I will announce the new deputy at sundown!” Flystar meowed. “I can’t believe we became apprentices!” Mistpaw mewed. “I need to talk to Flystar.” “What? Why?” Palekit asked. “Because I don’t want to be a moor runner. I want to be a Tunneler J.” Mistpaw mewed simply. Palekit nodded. “Okay.” “Oh no! It’s Silverflight’s kitting! Her mate is Hareflight!” Leafstep gasped. “New kits! Great!” Palekit mewed. “Hi kits!” Palekit poked Silverflight’s stomach. Silverflight purred. “Push!” Leafstep growled. In a few 초 of closing Palekit’s eyes, she heard crying of baby kits. “Hi!” Palekit mewed as she pulled one of them to their mother. He had a gray back, and white stomach. The 다음 one was a Black pelt tom. The third was gray, black, and white. “Graykit.” Hareflight mewed. “Fleekit, and Skykit.” Silverflight ended. “Graykit, Fleekit, Skykit!” she said. “It has been 4 moons since Palekit was born. It has been 2 moons since Silverflight’s kits were born. Graykit opened his eyes this morning.” Jayfur purred. “Yes, it has.” Hareflight agreed. “Graykit! Flykit! Where are are 당신 2 going?” Skykit asked from the nursery. “We want to play dodge moss with big kit Palekit!” Flykit mewed. “Can I come?” Skykit asked. “Sure!” Palekit puffed out her chest. They each put some moss in a pile. They watched closely at the warriors. “Throw!” Palekit mewed. They threw all the moss they could at the warriors. The warriors were very angry. “Kits!” Cherrybomb snarled. He was sleeping! Cherrybomb raised an unsheathed claw. He stomped over to Flystar. In a moment, the kits were back in the nursery except for Palekit. “Palekit! 당신 shall have a punishment. Cherrybomb said that 당신 should sleep without moss, do not eat 음식 for a day, and sleep outside while 고양이 can throw moss and dirt at you!” Flystar laughed. “I won’t have to, will I?” Palekit asked, shifting her paws. “No. But 당신 will have a punishment. Your punishment will be… I don’t know! Let me think.” Flystar walked to his den. Punishment?! “Ow!” Pitchpaw growled. He had twisted his paw while attacking a fast shrew. “Hurt?” Palekit asked. “Shut up, fleabag!” Pitchpaw snarled. “You’re no medicine cat!” Pitchpaw licked his other paw. “Let me see if I can help you-” Palekit meowed. “No!” Pitchpaw interrupted rudely. “Ok! I guess I’m of to PLAY. Oh, right, you’re injured, and 당신 can’t play! I’m going to play Chase the Mouse!” Palekit bragged. Chase the 쥐, 마우스 was both of their 가장 좋아하는 game. “Gross!” Palekit stepped in mud. “Eat it! Eat it! Eat it!” Pitchpaw cheered. “No way!” Palekit spat. Pitchpaw frowned. “Fine!” Pitchpaw rolled his eyes. “Wash your paws.” Pitchpaw commented. Palekit nodded. When Palekit came back, Pitchpaw was in his nest. “Hi Palekit.” Mistpaw mewed. She was piled with dirt. “Hi Wormpaw!” Pitchpaw purred. “Quit with the name calling! Only kits do that!” Hareflight came in. “Whatever!” Pitchpaw rolled his eyes once more. “Ew! A worm!” Mistpaw spat. “That’s what happens.” Mistpaw’s new mentor, Slateclaw growled. Mistpaw shook the dirt of her body. It landed on Pitchpaw’s twisted paw. “Ouch!” Pitchpaw yowled. Leafstep ran. “Cherryfur is having kits!” Leafstep meowed. “Today, at moon light.” “Really? Are they Hareflight’s?” Cherrypelt asked, wide-eyed. Cherryfur nodded nervously. “Congratulations!” Cherrybomb meowed. “Cool! 더 많이 kits!” Graykit purred. “Ah!” Cherryfur screeched. She was kitting! “It’s before moon light!” Leafstep yowled. She charged for her den. She had Cherryfur with her. Cherryfur lied inside the medicine cat’s den. Then, there was a yowl, and cries of kits. “3! 2 toms. One she-kit.” Leafstep peered out of her den. “Toms died… and Cherryfur.... She named her last kit Berrykit, after herself.” Leafstep mewed. “Welcome, Berrykit.” Palekit whispered. “I 사랑 her.” Palekit thought. “Only one survived!” Skykit gasped. Fleekit shook his head. “Why one?” Fleekit asked. “She came out ok.” Palekit murmured. “I have 3 announcements to make! They are important!” Flystar yowled. “Lets hope Berrykit will make our clan strong.” Flystar meowed. “2, Palekit’s “punishment” is over.” Flystar purred. “And 3, Palekit, your name shall be Palepaw. Your mentor shall be Bramblefur.” Flystar meowed. Palepaw gasped. She was an apprentice at last! “I thought I wouldn’t survive 6 moons!” Palepaw rasped. “Well, 당신 did. Bramblefur will teach 당신 well.” Flystar said. Flystar hadn’t even given Palepaw a punishment! Palepaw, Hareflight, Bramblefur, and Pitchpaw were on patrol. “I smell… a blood scent.” Palepaw sniffed. “I scent… a twoleg.” Hareflight snarled. “I smell rabbit scent!” Pitchpaw called out. “I smell…. A DOG!” Bramblefur yowled. “Run as fast as 당신 can! We’ll keep the dog away. Pitchpaw, get others! Palepaw, tell the queens to be careful!” Hareflight screeched. “Go!” Palepaw snarled. Pitchpaw nodded quickly and ran as fast as he could. Palepaw was even faster, so she did Pitchpaw’s job! They both ran back to the dog. Hareflight was breathing heavily on the cold, ground… “I would like retire to the elders den, and I wish Paleberry would take my place. She knows all of my skills, and she was calm as I was when Hareflight died. She hates to lose a clan mate, but she knows they will be watching us.” Bramblefur announced. Paleberry gasped. “But I just became a warrior!” Paleberry insisted. “I would like to retire in a moon.” Bramblefur continued, ignoring Paleberry. “V-very well, Bramblefur.” Flystar was surprised. “Need to talk to you, Paleberry.” Bramblefur growled. “S-sure, Bramblefur, just alone right?” Paleberry hissed. “Yes.” “I won’t let 당신 retire! We all know that Flystar’s on his 9th life!” Paleberry hissed once more. “I know. But Paleberry, I used to be a medicine cat’s apprentice. I already had my first prophecy as an apprentice. ‘A pale, smart cat, will take place in lead. 1, kin of your kin, will have her.’ A cat murmured to me. So then, my kin is you.” Bramblefur meowed. “Who by?” Paleberry asked. “Moonpelt is my sister, Silverflight’s father. So that makes 당신 my kin.” Bramblefur confessed. “But I am Slateclaw’s father. Slateclaw is your father.” Bramblefur told Paleberry. “Really?” “Yes, Really.” 고양이 came rushing back from patrol: Crowfeather, Cherrybomb, Silverflight, and Lightpelt. “Darkclan! They’ve been stealing OUR prey!” Crowfeather yowled. “What is going on?” Bramblefur asked. “Darkclan’s going on!” Silverflight hissed. “They 스톨, 훔친 our prey!” “Silent!” Fuzzybird yowled. “Darkclan must be taught not to come on our territory. We will plan a raid!” Fuzzybird yowled. “What? Who told 당신 what to do?” Paleberry hissed. “I agree.” Flystar meowed. “Paleberry, Bramblefur, Crowfeather, come with me on patrol 1. I will order the plans straight away!!!” 고양이 came rushing back from patrol: Crowfeather, Cherrybomb, Silverflight, and Lightpelt. “Darkclan! They’ve been stealing OUR prey!” Crowfeather yowled. “What is going on?” Bramblefur asked. “Darkclan’s going on!” Silverflight hissed. “They 스톨, 훔친 our prey!” “Silent!” Fuzzybird yowled. “Darkclan must be taught not to come on our territory. We will plan a raid!” Fuzzybird yowled. “What? Who told 당신 what to do?” Paleberry hissed. “I agree.” Flystar meowed. “Paleberry, Bramblefur, Crowfeather, come with me on patrol 1. I will order the plans straight away!!!” “Patrol 2: Slateclaw, Stoneclaw, Longclaw, Silvertail, Bearfoot!” Flystar yowled. 고양이 nodded and got in a line. “Why should we attack? When we’ve only known that they’ve been stealing prey? They could’ve done worse. What if they are planning to trick us?” Paleberry asked calmly. “She is right. They might be tricking us. 또는 they can plan a raid on our warriors right now when we go to their camp? Their camp could be a trap itself.” Bramblefur agreed. “Fine. We’ll raid a patrol.” Flystar meowed. “Paleberry, Bramblefur, Crowfeather, Slateclaw! Come on. Lead away!” Flystar yowled. Crowfeather hissed. “A patrol is right there!” Bramblefur made a border scent. He pretended he was on patrol with Flystar and Slateclaw. “Attack!” Flystar yowled. Paleberry jumped on a stripped black & white apprentice. “Badgerpaw watch out!” Skunkfang yowled. “What?” Badgerpaw turned around. Paleberry opened her claws and stretched them into Badgerpaw’s back. “Help me!” Badgerpaw screeched. Another apprentice, Frostpaw, jumped onto Paleberry’s back. “Your a warrior!” Frostpaw gasped. “What did 당신 think?” Paleberry hissed meanly. Paleberry was scratched in the eye. Suddenly, 3 other apprentices joined in on her. They weren’t warriors. There were 5 apprentices and 1 warrior. Paleberry was dying. “Paleberry no!” Flystar yowled. An apprentice grabbed Crowfeather 의해 the leg. Crowfeather screeched. “Wait a minute! They are apprentices!” Crowfeather rolled his eyes and threw the apprentice off his leg. Flystar wrestled with the warrior. He sent him off with a bite on the tail. The other apprentices followed. “You started this!” Paleberry was mad at Badgerpaw. “Now I end this!” Paleberry yowled. Paleberry was scratched in the eye. Suddenly, 3 other apprentices joined in on her. They weren’t warriors. There were 5 apprentices and 1 warrior. Paleberry was dying. “Paleberry no!” Flystar yowled. An apprentice grabbed Crowfeather 의해 the leg. Crowfeather screeched. “Wait a minute! They are apprentices!” Crowfeather rolled his eyes and threw the apprentice off his leg. Flystar wrestled with the warrior. He sent him off with a bite on the tail. The other apprentices followed. “You started this!” Paleberry was mad at Badgerpaw. “Now I end this!” Paleberry yowled. Badgerpaw was pinned to the ground, struggling. “Stop Paleberry! Don’t kill him!” Slateclaw rushed in. “Badgerpaw no!” Slateclaw yowled. He tackled Paleberry and freed Badgerpaw. “What were 당신 thinking?” Paleberry snarled. She jumped onto Badgerpaw, and swung him from the leg into the bushes. He was nowhere to be seen. “Badgerpaw?” Slateclaw yowled. He swung his head toward Paleberry. “He deserved it.” Flystar meowed. “Lets go back to camp now. Tomorrow, there is a gathering. Bramblefur, 당신 want to retire right? All settled down.” Grassclan, Darkclan, and Oceanclan were already there. “Welcome.” A sleek black cat meowed. “My name is Twistedtail. I am a Oceanclan warrior. I am becoming deputy this moon.” “I’m becoming deputy now as well.” Paleberry snorted. “May Starclan light your path.” Stormstar dipped his head. “Today I would like to announce our new deputy, Twistedtail.” Wetstar mewed. “I would like to announce our new deputy, Paleberry.” Flystar meowed. “Our 음식 is fine, but the borders are not. Flystar is going to be going to the Dark Forest, I know.” Birdstar hissed mean fully. “The Dark forest?” Echofrost from Darkclan echoed. “The Dark Forest is where 당신 are an enemy to Starclan.” Birdstar replied. “I’ll make sure of that as well. You’ve been stealing our prey!” Flystar hissed. “You killed an apprentice!” Birdstar yowled. “You’ve made new scent markers!” Flystar yowled in reply. “If Grassclan hadn’t attacked us first, I would say they should be the one to blame!” Birdstar growled. “If only Oceanclan wouldn’t steal our kits!” Stormstar unsheathed his claws. “Steal your kits? They belonged to their mothers clan!” Wetstar yowled in reply. “You are expecting well trouble from us.” Birdstar turned to Flystar disgracefully. “End the gathering.” Flystar hissed. He jumped off the great rock and went back to camp. “Bramblefur uh, Paleberry order a battle patrol.” Flystar meowed. “Yes, Flystar. Patrol one! Stoneclaw, Longclaw, Slateclaw, Silverflight, Cherrybomb. Patrol 2: Mistclaw, Pitchpelt, Berryfrost, Echosong, Runningtail.” Paleberry ordered. “Follow me now, Shineyclaw and Airflight.” Flystar meowed. “Come on, Bramblefur- I mean, Paleberry.” “Cats of my clan!” Flystar jumped onto Rock. But he was stopped. A screech came from the voice of the leader, Birdstar. “Skunkfang! Frostfire! Echofrost! Leafseed! Applefang! Lilypelt! Take your places! Apprentices! Guard the exit!” Their deputy, Lostleg yowled. There were 3 apprentices guarding the exit. Airclan was suddenly surrounded 의해 Darkclan. “Attack!” Birdstar gave the signal. “Trash their camp! Destroy their home! Make them frightened 의해 our power! Steal their prey! Kill their kits! Kill them ALL!” Birdstar yowled. Paleberry could feel the pain in her claws. Once patrol of Darkclan 고양이 came, apprentices attacked her. “Flystar is dead! Retreat! Retreat!” Birdstar yowled. 고양이 scrambled away from their opponents. “And 당신 thought we were weak!” Lostleg hissed. Once they were completely gone, the clan was badly injured. 3 other 고양이 were killed. They were Longclaw, Bearfoot, and Crowfeather. But the kits were safe, and there were 5. They were ready to become apprentices. “Time to go receive your lives, It will be long, but I will be there.” Leafstep meowed. “Well, I want to stay here a bit longer. I want to be a regular kit, which never had this life! I wish Flamekit was here, not me!” Paleberry cried. “With this life, I give 당신 peace. End the war with this life.” Longclaw murmured for the 1st life. “With this life, I give 당신 Freedom. I give 당신 freedom to live with your clan freely.” Bearfoot meowed. “With this life I give 당신 love. 사랑 all your kin, for your clan is your kin.” Crowfeather purred. “With this life I give 당신 Nature. Share the nature with the clan.” Badgerpaw meowed. “With this life, I give 당신 forgiveness. No death shall ever be avenged.” Hareflight grumbled. Horsetail, a cat that died the same 일 of Flamekit, came up. “I am Horsetail, my lovely Paleberry.”, he said. “With this life there is friendship, when 당신 have a time to be friends, not enemies.” Horsetail mewed. A tiny kit like a torch approached. How could a tiny kit enter Starclan? “I am Flamekit, your brother. I watched over 당신 and envied to live along. But I figured I would never get that chance. Sometimes 당신 don’t get opportunities, but at least 당신 still have your kin.” The tiny kit meowed. “With this life, I give 당신 Kinship. Share with your kin all your stories of the past, and do not be envious of something 당신 don’t have.” Paleberry nodded slowly. 1 더 많이 life to go. Flystar? “I am here.” Flystar rasped. “Flystar! I wish 당신 didn’t die. But, all this time I thought 당신 were in ‘the place’!” Paleberry whispered. “No, never. They are planning not to accept Birdstar, although she barely got a chance of Starclan. She only has 1 life, because she did not meet us, she meet Dark Forest warriors. We know already.” Flystar meowed. “With this life I give 당신 a star, a 별, 스타 for leadership, and of all, share this 별, 스타 with kin.” Flystar told Paleberry. “Welcome to Starclan, Palestar!” Palestar’s 심장 pounded as she reached her clan. She was going to make new apprentices herself. “Palestar! Palestar! Palestar!” Her clan cheered. Her mother, Moonpelt turned away. “Moonpelt? Why aren’t 당신 happy for me?” Palestar asked. “I wanted Flamekit to be the leader! Not some kit like you! Flamekit was supposed to be Flamestar! Not Palestar! 당신 kicked me, 당신 scratched me! 당신 cried to know your FATHER. But 당신 never wanted me! Flamekit would have loved ME!” Moonpelt snarled. “No, he wouldn’t! If he loved 당신 so much, then why did he go to Starclan?” Palestar hissed. “He wasn’t kitted right, ok?” “Then 당신 are not perfect!” Palestar screeched loud enough for Grassclan to hear. “You NEVER wanted me! 당신 wanted everything but me! 당신 would rather hiss and pound me on the ground! That’s what 당신 are saying!” Palestar spat. “Forget it! 당신 aren’t even my kit! Why did I have to deal with you?” Moonpelt mumbled. “What?” “You aren’t even my kit! That’s why I don’t 사랑 you!” “Then… who’s kit am I?” Palestar asked. “Not mine, that’s all.” Moonpelt stared at Leafstep. “Leafstep? Who’s kit is she?” Moonpelt hissed. “It’s time I let out the truth. I used to be Leafstar, but then… I had kits.” Leafstep mumbled. “Palestar… was my kit… so was Whitekit, Cloudkit, and Mousekit. But… they all died.” Leafstep murmured. “So… I had 1 sister and 2 brothers???!!!” Palestar hissed. “I’m sorry…” Leafstep put her head down. “Are 당신 lying again? I see eyes through those brambles.” Berrykit mewed. Leafstep turned around. There, 3 고양이 stood. Cloudkit, Whitekit and Mousekit! “Cloudkit?” Palestar stared at her brother. “Yes. It’s me. Cloudpuff.” Cloudkit meowed. His 모피 was bright white like the sunset. “Whitekit…” Palestar gasped. “I saw 당신 in Starclan, though!” “Whitewhisker.” He said. “And I’m Mousetail.” Mousekit mewed. “Where were you, all this time?” Palestar hissed. She woke up. It was all a dream. It had already been 1 night of leadership. “Mousetail? Whitewhisker? Leafstep? Cloudpuff??!!!” Palestar yowled. “I’m here.” Leafstep gasped as she entered. She put her head down. “Are 당신 my mother?” Palestar held her breath. “Yes, 당신 had that dream… I was leader before.” Leafstep explained after Palestar told her. “I AM your mother, my dear kit.” Leafstep mewed. Palestar purred. This was the start of a new life, being leader, and a new journey.
