Edward is the fastest in his family & has been looking for a way to get rid of Jake through out the series & as protective he is of Bella i think he's much more protective of his little girl.

It depends. If Jacob scarred Nessie earlier, when Bella was still a newborn, I'm pretty sure Bella wouldn't have been able to control her emotions and would have killed Jacob.

Edward, I doubt he would have. He may be the fastest, however, he knows that Bella wouldn't have wanted that. So... therefore, he wouldn't do anything. Though, he probably would have beaten Jacob in a little.

Um considering she wanted to injure Jacob for naming Renesmee "Nessie", I think she would kill him first.
