It's supposed to be steamy, Edward knows he is going to leave her and it's upsetting and he doesn't want to. And Aro mentions that it must be had to be 다음 to his La Tua Cantante and how can he stand it, Edward feels a draw to her blood all the time and I am sure it would be painful but also good to 키스 Bella all the time that's why he always has to pull away. In the book Bella mentions something different in his 키스 after the party, it was just like when they got separated when James was after her, but she ignores it until he leaves her in the forest.

I think the kisses in new moon are closer to what they do in the book. The 키싱 in Twilight was 더 많이 of a make out session instead of a little peck.
