As tired as I am of these questions, I'm just gonna' go with it. In the early part of my Twilight fandom, I was Team Edward, then after Eclipse, I was Team Switzerland, then now, I'm Team Jacob. Reason: He's just a better character in my opinion. Edward now crosses my mind as being overtly controlling and creepy. Jacob seems like the one that Bella would have a healthier relationship with. I mean, they're best friends, he cares deeply about her, he doesn't watch her sleep, he's never tried to eat her, and he gives her a bit 더 많이 freedom and fun.

this happens to me too!!!I was team Edward but after ECLPSE i was team Switzerland and now i am TEAM JACOB 4 EVER!!!!
*sigh* Edward was never controlling of Bella...was he 'overprotective"? Yes but with good reason...she was a danger magnet but Bella only had to say the word and Edward would have disappeared...Bella held all the cards...Jacob never stood a chance with her....even if Edward would have never come back...she would have stayed with Jacob but she would have never "loved" him the way she loved Edward.
@Hellohoudini, I agree. I'm starting to wonder if certain 팬 simply read what's on the surface instead of diving in deeper. Edward ALWAYS gave her choices. He told her that she should stay away from him, she didn't. He told her that she could choose Jacob if that's who she really wanted, she didn't. I don't recall Jacob ever giving her those sort of choices. And let's remember, Edward's pretty moral for a frakking vampire. He didn't even WANT her to become a vampire, because he wanted to "save" her and her soul, just as Jacob did. He only tuned her because she was dying. Edward and Jacob are actually A LOT alike, and yet for some reason people don't see it.

Answer: I don't care. Both characters have issues, but I prefer Edward. Yes, he can come off as controlling, but Bella is too much of an idiot to do anything about it. Not to mention that he's been alone for a good majority of his life, so having someone else to protect- a human no less- may seem new to him and unknowingly "controlling" her is just the result of his "protection". And he left in New Moon hoping to protect her. People who don't see that I'm assuming are extremely dense. Yes, Jacob is a selfish, whiny brat who doesn't really seem to give a shit about what SHE wants, but he's young and stupid, and Bella is too for leading him on as much as she did.
In the end, Bella shouldn't have had either one. I never understood her appeal to them anyways.

That's because the fandom is filled with immature people that don't respect other people's opinions that differ from their own. Anyway, I don't doubt that he cared for her, but rereading New Moon, especially the last chapter 또는 two, and Eclipse, he seems so selfish, only wanting what he wants despite how she really feels and what SHE wants. Hell, he had to deceive her into actually 키싱 him just because he had a 암캐, 암 캐 fit that she got engaged. To me, he came off as wanting to "save" Bella so that she would be with him instead of Edward. So he was thinking about Bella's life all along, but also because of how he'd benefit from "saving" her.
Oh I know, but having not been on here in a loooong time, I forgot how bad it was, aha. I don't doubt that was his hope, but his aim was always to save Bella's life which he could only do 의해 persuading her not to become a vampire. Bella has a complete lack of self-awareness and Jacob did desperate things for her to realise how she felt.

All reasons seem illogical other than 7. However, if 당신 actually read the books, Edward left in hopes of protecting her, thinking that no harm would come to her if he was no longer there to put her in danger. Duh.

out of the two, i'd say edward but what about all the amazing characters, my fave is aro. i think in the breaking dawn book, the volturi were far too willing to walk away, there should have been a fight with lives lost, not the happy go lucky ending it turned out to be, they're all 뱀파이어 for christ's sake, hows that for a new answer? tee hee ;-)
Sorry but this is an old question, but I'll answer anyway. Honestly, I'm Team Get over it. Meaning I'm not on a team at all, because both boys have INSANE flaws that 당신 do NOT want in a relationship. And Bella, uggh she just erks me. But If I had to choose I would say Team Edward but because and ONLY because of the fact that If she had chosen Jacob, he would have left her eventually because he only liked/loved? her for the moment. He hadnt imprinted on anyone yet, and he hadnt imprinted on Bella, so when the 일 came that he did imprint, she'd be left alone. But that is my only reason. Edward is over-controling, and patronizing. Bordering the line of EMOTIONAL abuse. Jacob was the same way, thretening to kill himself if he didnt get his way. They are both signs of an EMOTIONALLY abusive relationship.

1) - Edward is controlling and overprotective. I don't blame him for being worried about her, and I certainly don't blame him for being protective. I don't have a problem with his *motivations*. I have a problem with his actions. He has no right to dismantle her truck and have his adoptive sister kidnap her. The difference between Edward and Jacob is that Jacob always gives Bella a choice in the matter -- he did things that indirectly made her do what he wanted, but if she had really wanted to, she could have said no. Edward, on the other hand, does things that force Bella into compliance with his will. He should have said, "Bella, I'm jealous when 당신 are with Jacob. I'm worried he'll hurt you, so I don't want 당신 with him, please." Instead, he says, "You can't see him. I don't care what 당신 say. I'll stop 당신 if 당신 try to." He doesn't even attempt to look at it from her perspective, but later in Eclipse complains that Bella isn't looking at things from his perspective. He complains that her being with Jacob is dangerous, yet he allows Bella to hang around his adoptive brother Jasper, who nearly killed her once. Makes sense, right? I sense a little hypocrisy from him. What bothers me is that Edward thinks he has the right to tell her what to do. What bothers me is that he thinks he has the right to dismantle her truck, take her from her best friend, and have his adoptive sister kidnap her. I don't have a problem with his motivations -- he's entitled to be worried. She is his girlfriend. What he's not entitled to do is force her into compliance with his will. He takes away her choice in the matter several times, which is controlling. He has no right to do that. Him doing that also shows that he thinks he knows what was best for her better than she does. He has a point, but at the same time, it's Bella's life. He can voice his opinion, but it's still her life. Ultimately, it should be her decision.
2) - Edward doesn't care about the happiness of those around him. He says that himself -- he says all he needs is for Bella to be happy, no one else. This is evidenced 의해 the fact that he decided to "kill" himself in New Moon, even though he knew it would devastate his family. All he cares about is Bella. Edward can be extremely selfish, too. I'd argue that 9 out of 10 times, suicide is selfish. If Edward really would have killed himself, it would have been selfish. It would have hurt his family. And he got involved with Bella, even though he was aware that it would probably end badly 또는 she would have to become a vampire -- SELFISHNESS. He's generally a selfless person, but when he decides to be selfish, he ends up screwing several people over.
3) - He is very subtly manipulative. He's a baby when he doesn't get his way, as Alice says. He throws a fit when he doesn't. Edward knows human nature like the back of his hand, and hence is fairly arrogant. He knows what to do to get what he wants. Although I think it's unintentional sometimes, he manipulates Bella into doing what he wants. He tells her they have to get married, persists on it the entire book, then at the very end backs down. This makes Bella feel like he is selfless, makes her feel guiltier, and makes her want to get married. He indirectly does things that guilt her into doing what he wants. Speaking of the marriage thing -- Edward manipulated her into marrying him. She obviously didn't want to do it, but he pressured her until she gave in. Marriage is not something 당신 should bargain with. If 당신 get married, it should be because 당신 want to get married, not because 당신 feel obligated. Marriage is an important step in life -- if 당신 get married, 당신 wholeheartedly should desire being married. Marriage is a serious thing, in my eyes. I hate that Edward uses marriage as a bargaining tool. It just horrifies me.
4) - He's so black and white. There is never a gray area for him. He's always at one end of the spectrum 또는 the other; there is no moderation. He's a sucky compromiser and he doesn't like to compromise (because he likes getting his way). One 분 he's saying she will never see Jacob again, the 다음 he's throwing her into his arms. One moment he promises not to leave, the 다음 he leaves seemingly forever. He thinks Bella is in danger, he sends her to Florida. There is never a gray area for him. He overreacts. He doesn't know how to handle bad situations -- he completely loses his head and loses the ability to think through the problem logically. He's too black and white for his own good. My 모토 in life is "moderation in all things". I don't believe in extremism towards anything, typically. To me, that makes Edward a little immature -- he's so black and white, that he can't handle less than ideal situations. Part of being mature is being able to handle things in a level-headed way.
6) - He has a malicious streak in him. Jacob is mean to him sometimes, but he doesn't usually plan things out. Jacob's insults come from a spur of the moment thing; he usually loses his temper, and that's what makes him be mean. He almost always ends up feeling terrible afterwards, too. Edward, on the other hand, plans it out. He planned out Jacob eavesdropping on them when he talked about the wedding, because he knew it would hurt Jacob (and Bella, too). That, to me, shows that Edward has a definite bad side. I have an easier time forgiving someone who does something mean because they temporarily lose their temper than I do someone who plans out their insults and deliberately carries them out, even though they are perfectly aware of what they are doing.
7) - Edward is BORING. He never does anything spontaneous. He never does anything unexpected. He never does anything exciting 또는 reckless. I'd get so bored with him. All he and Bella ever do is throw cheesy 사랑 lines at each other with makeout sessions in between. They never do anything besides that. Their relationship is just boring. He's a boring person. He lacks a personality. Bella and Edward are always so serious -- they never have fun. He's too gentlemanly as well. Jacob is exciting. He has an intriguing and attractive personality. He does reckless things (which ROCKS, I'm a dare devil!), but at the same time, he can be serious when necessary. And he knows how to handle bad situations; instead of flipping out, he and the pack get together and decide how to best handle the situation. Bella can actually laugh with him. She has fun with him. She and Edward aren't like that. I would just get so damn bored with him!
8) - HE ISN'T HUMAN. He can't give Bella anything I find important in life. I want kids. I want to grow up. I want to get older. I want human experiences. I want to die in time. And he can't give any of that to Bella, yet he was foolish enough to pursue a relationship with her. He wants her to stay human, but he should have known it would never have worked like that. He should never have gotten involved with her in the first place if he really cared about her that much.
The bottom line is this - I can't stand overprotective guys. I can't stand possessive guys. I can't stand guys who won't give me any personal space. I can't stand guys who are romantic 24/7. I can't stand boring guys. Edward just doesn't appeal to me at all. He sounds like an awful boyfriend. I honestly cannot understand why Edward appeals to people. I hate him with a passion. Jacob is a thousand times better. If you're still on Team Edward after 읽기 all eight of these reasons, 당신 have problems.
