I think he was going to end up killing her...but it's hard to say. I say he would've killed her because it would've hurt Edward 더 많이 to not have her at all than to have her changed.

He was gonna to kill her, and he wanted to enrage Edward because that was like a game to him....but when Edward showed up at the ballet studio and they started fighting. he realized that that he probably wouldnt get the chance to kill her so he bit her instead. And James didnt change Alice...it was the old vampire at the asylum who changed her so that James couldnt kill her.
