I feel that lately the word “epic” is losing its meaning. Most people now, when they love a couple are like “Omg they are so epic”. I mean, I freaking love Delena, but are they epic at all? No, they aren’t at the moment. Actually no couple in TVD is epic – I have visited a spot on fanpop called “Epic couples” and I saw tons of pictures of TVD couples, particularly Bamon. Come on!

When I think of an epic couple, I think about everything they have gone through together. All the seasons we have seen them in, the angst, happiness, basically the whole package. You just have to look at couples like Jate and Brucas, who yes I know not a lot of people like, but these are the type of couples that should and are considered epic. The same goes for LoVe etc.
Therefore, seeing a couple after one season does not make them epic. You can love a couple a lot, but it doesn’t mean they are epic.

Okay I hope I made sense ;)

I understand were are you coming from, completely.

It's the road that makes a couple epic, not the amount of fans that follow them on that road.

I like Damon/Bonnie also but they are far from epic and if ppl call any couple epic, I don't bother.Like sometimes, I heard that Serenate , Delena are epic which I don't believe but now if anybody think so what can I do.It's their belief.

What's even worse than this is when the creators of the show keep throwing that word in our face. Stefan and Elena have been together for 3 months(i heard) in the show's time-line. So epic. Give me a break. No one's reached epic on that show yet. It takes years and MANY ups and downs(both internal & external to the relationship) to be considered epic.

I agree EPIC to me is a couple that have been through so much together the ups & the downs and have a had a long journey but in the end love each other so a couple that have been together a couple of years i dont think are epic!!!!

EPIC to me is about not only what the couple goes through but breaking conventions as well, couples i would call epic would be:

ROSS & RACHEL, BUFFY & ANGEL, CLARK & LOIS, ALLY & BILLY, JD & ELLIOT, RYAN & MARRISSA, MEREDITH & DEREK, MAX & LIZ, PIPER & LEO, CARRIE & BIG (well before the movies they were).

Now some people might not agree with them, they are just out of the shows i have watched or do watch, but maybe look at their stories and tragedies and see if your couple compares!

P.s. I find with couples that are EPIC as well they are usually alot of outside the relationship obstacles in the way like money, status, humanity etc

I completly agree with katie15!i LOVE Delena so much, is my OTP, but IS NOT EPIC, like ANY couples of TVD. The creators after three episode said "Stelena are EPIC" what?!?are you kidding?!it's not EPIC at all!the couple i considered epic are: Derek&Meredith, Clark&Lois and Seth&Summer even if i love so much Delena and Brucas.

Sometimes it bothers me, especially if it is a couple that you saw kiss like one time, or something. When people call Quick/St. Berry/Puckleberry (all of whom I really love) epic, or especially Finchel (which I really don't love) epic it bothers me because they had one season of a show, they aren't even close to being epic yet.

Mulder/Scully or Piper/Leo they are epic. But I guess, it doesn't bother me too much. Except when people say it about every single couple they like. I love a bunch of different couples, not very many of which are epic. Doesn't mean I don't love them to death, but they aren't epic.

I do agree some people use it on all their favorite couples, which gets too much because then the description epic fades out.

I for examble have a list(a methaphoric one ofc) of my overall favorite couples and a list of my favorite epic couples and they do not look the same. Like Phoebe&Cole is in my top 3 epic couple list though they are really far down on my overall favorite couples list, and Quinn&Puck is my second favorite couple but I dont concider them epic.

I think that everyone has their own definition of 'epic'. Who cares if they think that a couple is epic when they really aren't? it's really just an opinion-based thing.

The idea of a couple being "epic" is completely subjective. So who is to say what couple is or is not epic? Usually something epic is of grand proportions... so I guess you could say a couple that is well liked by many people or a couple that has been around for a long time is epic. But when I say "well liked by many people"- who are these people? Because seeing that people (mostly females) between twelve and twenty five years of age on fanpop love couples on Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, and Lost- is very different than looking at a great amount of people between the ages of twenty five and forty who adore couples from Mad About You, or Beverly Hills 90210, or Melrose Place, or Family Ties, or Growing Pains.

The only couple I regularly use the word "epic" to describe is Buffy & Angel. And that's mostly because Buffy & Angel's story really seems like a modern day Romeo & Juliet (falling in love with the enemy and the only one you are supposed to hate, never being able to actually be together-- being "star crossed lovers")-- and I think most people would consider Romeo & Juliet to be the most epic love story of all time (not because it's the best... but it's one of the most well known).
But it's completely subjective... so what I consider epic, others wouldn't.

LOOOL NAT. so true.

The only reason i find BL epic, because they love they had for one another, and or the math, and logic POINTED TO THEM BEING ENDGAME,but got ruined because OF MARK. not because they dont love one another.

so yeh they didnt end up together, but from queen of hearts to the smallest tiny detail, i know in my mind, these two r epic.

I agree with livelydebate - Jate are the only couple that deserves to be called that title. They have gone through so much together...that totally defines the word EPIC.

But Brucas, really? LMAO. Lucas has never really loved Brooke, they were together only because he couldn't be with Peyton for so many seasons - it would be boring and tv shows love drama. It was obvious he would end up with Peyton in the end. Leyton is much closer to epic than Brucas - they have been through soo much to finally be together.

Ahahahahahahaha!!! Oh now that's just made my fucking day!

I see someone has been drinking the kool-aid a little too much lately eh?

I'm just not even gonna bother going in to how fucked up that statement is, but please, PLEASE! Stop trying to twist shit around.

Lucas LOVED Brooke. There is no god damn doubt about it & LP fans that try to say he NEVER loved her, well they just come off looking a bit pathetic.

And btw, they were together only because he couldn't be with Peyton for so many seasons :

"Just tell me, why me this time. Why not Peyton?"
"I can’t say anything bad about Peyton. She’s my friend, and she’s your best friend!"
"That’s OK, you can say bad things about her."
"Oh, Brooke. The truth is, I care about Peyton."
"Then what is the difference?"
"The difference... The difference is I love you, Brooke. I wanna be with you, not Peyton."
"But why? I need to know why."
"Because you kink your eyebrow when your trying to be cute. And you quote Camoo, even though I've never actually seen you read. And because, you miss your parents, but you'll never ever admit that. And because I've given exactly two of these embarrassing speeches in my entire life, and they've both been with you. I mean, that's gotta mean something right? And because we're both gonna get pneumonia, but if you need to hear why I love you, I can go on all night."

ANYWAYS! Back to the original point!

To me, I define epic going by this:

"I thought our story was epic, you know, you and me."
"Epic how?"
"Spanning years and continents. Lives ruined, bloodshed. EPIC."

I actually agree, this is epic to me.
The only couple I find epic is Leyton, because after everything they went through..being with other people, being shot, breaking up, psycho stalkers, Lucas´s insecurities, misunderstandings and so on..their love for each other won in the end, that to me is epic!

major props to xheartinohixo for that comment. loll but then again, i do like to throw the epic word down a lot too, but i try to make sure its being used where its deserved. and EPIC couple example is Desmond/Penny from LOST. now that is the opitomy of the word: "Spanning years and continents. Lives ruined, bloodshed. EPIC." loll ohh how logan knows what hes talking about.

I think a person's perception of epic is subjective. If people consider a couple to be epic or not, that's not really gonna change MY opinion (only the couple themselves will), so it doesn't bother me.
