So I am planning a trip to Europe, during winter and will be visiting France, Greece, Italy, Spain, England, Denmark, Germany, Netherlands, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Scotland, Croatia and as far north as Alta Norway (arctic circle)... So I was wondering does anyone have ANY tips for any of these places? Mainly focusing on things to pack and places to stay.

I'll be taking a backpack (most likely the Deuter Quantum 70 +10) has any one use this pack before? What did you think of it?

Also I am looking for thermals and am not sure what type to go with. I have heard good reviews on silk, merino wool and polypropylene are good, however I'm not sure which one to go with. Any suggestions?

I have also been advised to look at cuddle duds, has any one used there? What are they like? Which ones are good to use as an underlayer?
