\'Thor: Ragnarok\' news: Cast, director and writer to be announced by the end of summer
Thor\'s third movie, "Thor: Ragnarok" remained oddly quiet the past few months even when Marvel President Kevin Feige announced the phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The film is set to be released in 2017, so the silence was understandable. But fans who have been looking forward to more details are fortunate, as Feige just recently announced when they will reveal the new cast of the upcoming movie, along with other details.
During Feige\'s interview with io9 via Screenrant, he said fans can expect to hear more details about the movie this coming summer, including the new actors that will be added to the original cast, as well as the writers who will pen the film\'s script. "I think towards the end of the summer there will probably be a filmmaker announcement and a writer announcement and maybe even some additional casting announcements. That won\'t start filming until middle of next year."
As for who might be directing the third film in the "Thor" franchise, there was previously a rumor that director Kenneth Branagh will be back. However, Feige dismissed the rumor and said he knew nothing about the claim. "Not true. I don\'t know where that came from," Feige told Collider.
Meanwhile, earlier this year, Screenrant has reported that the script for the movie is still in the works. When Digital Spy asked Chris Hemsworth, who plays Thor, to dish on some details for the changes he will face in the next film, the actor said "No, I can\'t. But also, there is no script for \'Thor,\' the next \'Thor,\' so I have no idea."
"Thor: Ragnarok" is set to premiere on November 3, 2017. It will be part of the phase 3 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and will tell the story of one of the popular arcs in the comics -- the end of the world or the "Ragnarok" as the Norse calls it.
