Back at the Upshaw’s 집 after the Neighborhood Meeting in which the Mullennixs were kicked out of the game, the Upshaws rehash their strategy. They say that they care about the Mullennixs, but that they are here to play the game. They don’t feel that the Mullennixs should be angry with them for putting them in danger of leaving. 더 많이 than ever, the Upshaws feel that they need to win the 다음 challenge, and they are hoping that they will since the other two remaining families, the Schindlers and the Johnstons, haven’t won a challenge yet.
A Victory Toast
The 다음 morning, the Johnstons celebrate being in the final three with a bountiful victory breakfast, but the importance of the 다음 challenge looms ahead. Meanwhile, the Upshaws continue to strategize. They believe that, if the Johnstons win the 다음 challenge, they will keep the Upshaws in the game despite having been put in danger 의해 them, since ultimately the Upshaws supported the Johnstons to stay in the game. They feel that they shouldn’t have to worry about the Schindlers, since they have a pact with them to go to the final two. However, they are sure that they are the biggest target because of having won three Neighborhood Challenges in a row. 20-year-old Christopher Upshaw suggests bringing all of the families together to reassure everyone that, no matter what happens, they will still be 프렌즈 after the game. Dad Rick Upshaw agrees that his suggestion is a smart move, “Look at you, Don Corleone.”
All three families gather in the Upshaws kitchen, and Dad Rick Upshaw makes his speech, “At the 다음 Neighborhood Meeting, we don’t want any tension. We all should be very happy we’re in the final three. Whoever wins the net challenge, it’s going to be a very tough decision. Let’s make it easy on one of the three families. That’s all I wanted to say with everybody here.” It seems to have worked, as Dad Cameron Johnston says that he respects Rick 더 많이 for having said those things, but he is also worried that it was a warning to Cameron that if the Upshaws win, the Johnstons would be kicked out of the game.
Wet and Wild
Host Matt Rogers brings the final three families to the 다음 Neighborhood Challenge. Their neighborhood has been turned into a giant water park that stretches all the way around the entire neighborhood. In the challenge, each family picks three members to participate, and each member will go onto the course one at a time. In the first leg, they’ll climb an 18-foot waterslide, slide down it, and run over to a giant puzzle board with 12 items on it. They must memorize the position of the items on the grid exactly the way they are. The item’s color, what object it is, and what square it is placed in. They then continue through the waterslide course, through two 더 많이 slides, until they reach the end and approach an empty puzzle board 다음 to a basket with a bunch of items in it. Some of the items were pictured on the giant puzzle board, but some are decoys. It won’t be easy with all of that running and sliding, but they must try and recreate the pictured puzzle board with the actual objects from the basket. If they don’t get it, they must tag their 다음 family member who will go back onto the course and pick up where they left off. The first family to have all 12 objects in the correct spot wins. The winning family gets to choose which other family they will go head to head with for a quarter of a million dollars. Matt lets the families know that the winners will get to go outside of the 벽 for the ultimate family 일 trip at an arcade and bowling alley.
Matt gives the families 30 초 to strategize and decide which three family members will be playing. The Upshaws decide that 20-year-old Christopher Upshaw will go first, 18-year old Alexus Upshaw will go second, and Dad Rick Upshaw will be their final player. The Johnstons decide that 25-year-old niece Theresa will go first, 11-year-old Carliegh will go sedond, and Mom Regina will go third. Regina says that since the puzzle board has three rows of four items, they should each take a row to memorize, rather than trying to memorize all 12 items at once. The Schindlers will have 12-year old Noah run first, 10-year-old Emmett run second, and Dad David Schindler last.
After the first trip through the watercourse, Christopher Upshaw is breathless and throws a couple of items on the board, “It’s not as easy as it looks,” he says and 태그 Alexus. The Johnstons strategy is paying off with Theresa filling their entire 상단, 맨 위로 row. Noah Schindler throws items in two squares, “That’s all I could remember, I’m sorry Dad.” The families keep the competition close and are down to their last few squares. The Upshaws are in the lead, with the Johnstons right behind. The Schindlers are down to their last item, but the Upshaws call to Matt that they have it, and then the Johnstons do. Matt checks the Upshaws’ board first, but it’s incorrect. He goes over to the Johnstons board, and verifies that it is correct, making them the winners of the challenge and the Kings of the Neighborhood. Niece Theresa Johnston says, “I can’t believe we pulled that one off. Three of us girls up against the grand winners of the neighborhood.” Now the Johnstons have 집 Security and get to pick the family that they’re going to go head-to-head with in the finale.
A Taste of Freedom
The Johnston family arrives in front of Matt to claim their prize of freedom. Matt tells them that, normally, to get outside of the wall, there is only one door to go through, but that is a bad thing because it is used only when families have 로스트 the game. Instead, to get outside of the wall, the Johnston family must go over it via 기중기, 크레인 lift. The Johnstons get a view of the entire neighborhood as they ride up and over the 벽 to their waiting limo. The Johnstons are excited to take a break from the game and experience some of the luxuries they’ve been missing – like electricity!
Meanwhile, 10-year-old Emmett Schindler is very disappointed to have 로스트 the prize. The Schindlers are a little stir-crazy behind the wall. Mom Christina Schindler admits that it’s hard to rally when 당신 keep losing. She tries to cheer up Emmett, “Let’s try to feel better as a family, because when one of us is down, the rest is down. Deal?” “Deal.” Emmett responds, with a hand shake.
David’s Dilemma
The 다음 day, in preparation for the Neighborhood Meeting, Dad David Schindler wonders if the Schindlers should reveal to the Johnstons that the Upshaws went against the families in The Core from the beginning, and made a secret pact with the Schindlers. He thinks that it’s possible that it might make the Johnstons rethink any inclination that they may have to keep the Upshaws based in their long-time relationship with them. “I think that gives us some ammunition if it comes up. We’re just along for the ride, and the Upshaws, they’re the masterminds destroying the neighborhood,” says David.
The Sixth Neighborhood Meeting
Matt brings the final three families together for the sixth Neighborhood Meeting and asks Dad Cameron Johnston which families they were closest with before the game began. He replies that it was the Nelsons and the Upshaws and that he has known them for six years. The Schindlers say that, formerly, they had just been acquaintances with the Johnstons, but have gotten to know each other in the past six months. Matt asks David if six years versus six months makes him nervous. David says that, due to the Schindlers having played poorly in the past, he thinks that they would be the best choice. Rick Upshaw responds that the Schindlers were still able to make it to the final three. David then replies that it’s because they’ve aligned with some strong families, and then reveals their pact with the Upshaws, surprising the Johnstons. The Upshaws and the Schindlers both make their pleas to the Johnstons to stay in the game but, in the end, the Johnstons reveal that they have chosen to go head-to-head with the Schindlers in the finals, which means that the Upshaws have been kicked out of the game. The Upshaws reassure the Johnstons that they should not feel bad about them leaving, and wave goodbye as they leave THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
