A Bit of a Curveball
In the darkness of the night, after another Neighborhood Meeting, the Johnstons return 집 feeling lucky to still be in the game after having been put in danger along with the Nelsons. Mom Regina Johnston says, “The game’s gonna be completely different without the Nelsons, and the Upshaws may have done us a favor 의해 clearly setting aside the friendship, but there’s going to be a little less trust for the Upshaws word. It’s everybody for themselves.”
Meanwhile, the Upshaws say that it wasn’t easy sending their 프렌즈 out of the game. 20-year-old Christopher Upshaw admits that the stakes are higher for their parents because he and his sister, Alexus, are getting ready to 옮기기 out of the house while their parents will be left behind to face the neighbors long after the game is over. The Upshaws feel that they have to win the 다음 Neighborhood Challenge, since they have most likely made themselves a target for the remaining members of The Core. Special Delivery
After several weeks behind the 벽 without power, the Johnstons have fallen into a new routine for their unique circumstances. Laundry is done daily in the bathtub, and Dad Cameron Johnston gets creative every morning as he figures out what to cook for breakfast using their limited 음식 supply. Today, this new morning routine is interrupted 의해 the sounds of a 기중기, 크레인 lifting a giant 나무 상자, 상자 over the neighborhood wall. The remaining families, the Mullennixs, the Johnstons, the Schindlers and the Upshaws, rush outside to see what the delivery is. Upon opening the box, the families find a treat that they desperately need at this point in the game—a cornucopia of fresh 음식 to stock their empty kitchens. A House of Cards
Host Matt Rogers calls the families together in the Johnston’s garage, and each family takes their place at a card 표, 테이블 with a deck of oversized cards. Matt introduces the 다음 집 Challenge. In it, each family will be building a house of cards, and the family who builds a house of cards with the most levels in five 분 will win a slight advantage in the upcoming Neighborhood Challenge. For the Schindler family, Dad David lets his son, 12-year-old Noah, take the lead saying, “the Schindler family’s trying to use peoples strengths, and I think that Noah’s the best card builder.” With three 분 left, the Mullennixs and the Upshaws are neck and neck, each with a two level house of cards. With one 분 left, they both have three levels. With 30 초 left, the Upshaws go for a fourth level, while the Mullennixs stay at three, not wanting to risk a collapse. The Upshaws complete their fourth level and win the 집 Challenge. Laundry Day
Next, Matt leads the families outside of the 차고 for their Neighborhood Challenge. For the challenge, each family will choose three family members to participate. The first family member will begin 의해 searching through a large soapy tub that contains hundreds of items of clothing, digging for 10 pieces of clothing with their family colored letter on it. When they have a correct item of clothing, they must run it to their 초 family member, who will pin it to a long clothesline and pull the clothesline across a wheel to transport it to the other end of the yard, where the third family member will be waiting. This family member then runs the clothing around the side of the house and hangs it up in the backyard on one of two parallel clotheslines. Once all ten items are hanging on these final clotheslines, they must arrange the letters in the correct order to spell out a phrase consisting of two five-letter words. The first family to have the phrase exactly right will win the Neighborhood Challenge and become Kings of the Neighborhood. Since the Upshaws won the 집 Challenge, they have a slight advantage, so Matt gives them their first piece of lettered clothing before the challenge starts.
The challenge starts, and searching in the tub are Mon Regina Johnston, 12-year-old Noah Schindler, 20-year-old Christopher Upshaw and 17-year-old Keith for the Mullennix family. The Johnstons find an item first, but Chris Upshaw is quick to catch up when he finds two items, giving the Upshaws a total of three with their starting advantage. Mom Christina Schindler yells across the yard to Noah, “I’m not trying to be mean, but GO FASTER!” Noah runs over with the first two items for the Schindler family. Mom Christina Schindler sends them down to Dad David Schindler, who takes off for their final clothesline with just two items. Theresa Johnston follows him to the clothesline with five items to hang in the backyard. The Mullennixs have five items, while the Upshaws are in the lead with 7 items. The others are catching up, and it’s a close race, but the Upshaws are the first family to have all 10 items. Meanwhile, Dad David Schindler is trying to solve his puzzle with only eight items. The Mullennixs get all ten of their items, and once again are neck-and-neck with the Upshaws as they both try to solve the word puzzle. 18-year-old Alexus Upshaw is the first to spot the word “Cycle.” She then finds “Rinse” quickly afterwards to complete the phrase, “Rinse Cycle,” making the Upshaws the Kings of the Neighborhood for the third time in a row. As winners of the Neighborhood Challenge, the Upshaws will receive a generator and a brand new washer and dryer, along with a bunch of brand new clothes. However, they have also won a big responsibility. At the Neighborhood Meeting, they must pick two families to put in danger of being kicked out of the game. The Challenge Aftermath
With so few families left in the game, having 집 Security as Kings of the Neighborhood is a much-coveted prize. Mom Regina Johnston, who was searching for the clothing in the tub, feels responsible for her family’s last place finish. She says that they should be prepared to leave, and grateful if they don’t. The Mullennixs lament that, once again, they were right on the Upshaws heels in a challenge, and didn’t win. They think that the Johnstons 또는 the Schindlers are going to be put in danger, but Mom Chris Mullennix feels confident that the Upshaws won’t put her family in danger because of their long history of friendship. A Bedroom Boutique
Matt brings the Upshaws back into their house to show them their new washer and dryer in the laundry room. Then he leads them into the master bedroom to reveal an impressive spread of new clothing and accessories, from casual wear to suits. 20-year-old Christopher Upshaw says, “The only people I’d say that were 더 많이 excited than me were my Mom and my sister who were fighting over everything.” Mom Therese Upshaw and her daughter Alexus scour through the clothes each trying to lay claim to the same items. A Gucci 지갑 sends them over the edge with excitement, and each of them are adamant that the 지갑 will belong to them.
Meanwhile, the Mullennixs visit the Schindlers and they all speculate about the upcoming Neighborhood meeting. Mom Chris Mullennix says that she has a feeling that the Schindlers are going to be put in danger with the Johnstons. Chris doesn’t know about the Upshaw/Schindler pact but, despite that pact, Dad David Schindler feels wary after listening to her, and wouldn’t be surprised if his family is blindsided. The Upshaws Deliberate
Back in the Upshaw home, Mom Therese Upshaw asks her son Christopher what 옮기기 he thinks will take them to the end of the game. Christopher says that he would take out the biggest threat to their family, which would be the Johnstons because of their advantage in intellectual competitions. The rest of the Upshaws seem to think that the Mullennix family is a bigger threat because they have gotten so close to beating the Upshaws in the recent challenges. The Fifth Neighborhood Meeting
The families gather for their fifth Neighborhood Meeting, and Matt asks Chris Upshaw if he feels nervous because his family has won three Neighborhood Challenges in a row. Chris says that, if jealousy sets in with the other families, he is worried. Matt asks the Mullennixs how important a quarter-of-a-million dollar prize would be to their family. Renee replies that all of the families are equally deserving of the money but, for the Mullennix family in particular, it would make a huge difference. Mom Chris Mullennix agrees and reveals that it’s been a long time since her bills have been paid on time. Matt asks her what is 더 많이 important to her in the game, the prize, 또는 getting to spend time with her boys before they leave for college. She replies that it is hard to say for her because family time is priceless, but winning the prize would be life changing for them. She says it’s equal to her. Dad Cameron Johnston jumps in and says, “I disagree 100 percent. Screw the money. I’ll be happy to walk out the door right now, as long as I’m with my family.” 18-year-old Alexus Upshaw agrees with him, “You can’t miss something that 당신 don’t have. I’ve definitely never had 250 thousand dollars, but if 당신 do have your family behind you, sometimes that’s all that matters.
Finally, the Schindlers and the Johnstons both express their apprehension of possibly leaving the game. With that, Matt asks Rick Upshaw which two families they are going to put in danger of leaving the game. Rick chooses the Schindlers and the Mullennixs. The Schindlers are not surprised, since they have already been in danger three times, and they are not members of The Core, but the Mullennixs are 더 많이 shocked now than they were when they were put in danger at the first Neighborhood Meeting.
The Upshaws and the Johnstons return to their homes to decide which family to support and keep in the game. They must decide if they are supporting the Schindlers 또는 the Mullennixs, and bring the 사진 of the family that they have chosen to support back to Matt. In the end, the Schindlers receive two votes of support, keeping them in the game, and making the Mullennixs the fifth family to be kicked out of the game, leaving THERE GOES THE NEIGHBORHOOD.
