Paul Wesley originally tried out for the role of Damon. This is just a 'what if' scenario.

But i think there is a reason he didn't get it. I think Ian was born to play Damon. People on the cast including Ian himself have said that there are a lot of similarities between Ian and Damon.

I would still love him if PW played him because I just love the character. But would I love him as much? Probably not.

I shudder just considering him playing damon- not only paul but any other actor. The role is ian's and only ian's! If pw played him then he wouldn't put the same charm and humor in damon that ian does so well. we wouldn't get those smirks and eyebrows and THOSE EYES!!!

I haven't actually seen Paul as Damon, so I don't really want to judge him. Maybe if I had never seen Ian's portrayal of Damon and I had just seen Paul's maybe it would be good. I do love Ian as this character though, the energy and the comedy he brings, as well as the body language and the facial expressions he does. I love Damon, and I don't know if Paul would be as good, worse or better as Damon, I haven't seen it. But I think the characters suit the actors as they are now.

It's like Ian was made for the role of Damon. I don't think I would have liked Damon as much if he had been played by Paul.

I was Ian's fan before TVD, so I'd love his character more no matter what
