LIFE WENT ON IN THE CLAN and leaf-fall had turned to leaf-bare as the cold winds blew throughout the forest. Prey was harder to find as they went underground to escape the 쓴, 쓰라린 ghouls of the howling winds.
Mousekit and Lilykit were almost six moons old, and they were going to be apprentices soon. And, Stonetail had received his warrior name at last a moon before.
Oakleaf looked around at the slowly aging Clan in envy. They all communicated and bonded friendships. He was still silent, and he was feeling sudden regret. But, now he was afraid to...
THRUSHKIT AND REDKIT WERE BROUGHT TO the world early that leaf-fall. Lilykit stayed in the nursery at the time with her mother, while Mousekit was outside with his father. Heatherstripe said that the birthing was painful, but in this current moment, she was still gazing down at her newborns as they suckled.
Stonepaw had just arrived with the wet moss; he was sent to fetch it during the kitting.
“I missed it,” he sighed to Heatherstripe when he walked in. “I’m so sorry.”
“COME ON, 당신 SLOW-POKE! BRACKENTAIL MIGHT ALREADY be asleep now!”
“No, Mousekit!” Lilykit squealed. “He said that he will tell us the story at sunhigh!”
Another moon had passed, and life flourished in the Clan. Lilykit now saw and knew every cat that lived there, and her father had given her and her brother a special tour. The 일 before, Brackentail promised them that they will tell the stories of the 고양이 long ago, and now the kits are going to hear them.
“Right on time,” the elder rasped as the two littermates clambered in the den.
OAKLEAF WAITED PATIENTLY AND SILENTLY AS the sun began to rise. He daren’t 옮기기 from his place until a warrior gave him the words otherwise. The pinkish sky got brighter, and the purplish clouds were lightly fading to a pale gray as the sun climbed higher in the endless beyond.
“You can stop vigil, now,” a familiar voice mewed. “It’s well past sunrise.”
Oakleaf sighed, stretching his muscles. Behind him, Russetwind purred. “I’m proud of you, Oakleaf. Most newly made warriors wouldn’t wait until orders; you’re a good cat.”
The young warrior’s whiskers twitched. He headed...
OAKPAW WAS THE FIRST TO NOTICE the setting sun. Meanwhile, everyone was murmuring their congratulations in the bloody clearing. Yes, Sweetstar’s kits are a great addition to the Clan, but it will all just be a distant memory if something got to the kits. They were a while away from their camp, and they were vulnerable to all the predators that lurked around at night.
If only they knew.
The sun was almost setting in the sky, sending all of its rays making the pinkish color in the clearing. They were all still too oblivious.
OAKLEAF FOUND HIMSELF IN A STARRY clearing, where he had no idea where he had no recognition of. He had these dreams before, but he never knew what they meant. But, as he walked, a faint but familiar scent hit the roof of his mouth. That was when a blue-gray tom walked up to him.
“Oakpaw, I have come from StarClan to tell 당신 of your special power.”
Oakpaw opened his mouth to speak, for that this was a dream, and nobody will know the horrible secret in a dream. “What special power?”
“Your gift is speed,” Cobaltpelt mewed, “specially chosen 의해 your StarClan ancestors.”...
OAKPAW RAN AS FAST AS HE could, but the 여우 seemed faster.
StarClan, help me!
The trees were blurry around him, like they had always been, but he still seemed slow, in his eyes. He wished that he knew the answers. Ever since he saw that blue-gray tom a moon ago, he had been having these weird visions. He didn’t know where they came from.
Oakpaw came right to a stream, where he was at a dead end.
The 여우 was hissing with pleasure, as he had found a way to make his kill.
