um...thats a duh. Baroness was a stupid blond( not 2 get into stereotypes), she didn't play with the children and was secreatley mean and snooty 2 maria. LUV MARIA AND CAPTIN VON TRAPP!!!:-)

No contest. The Captain's relationship with the Baroness seemed to be more about money and social status, whereas his relationship with Maria was based on love and trust.

No, Chris Plummer doesn't dislike Julie Andrews in real life. As far as I know, they even became good friends because of The Sound of Music filming. It was playing the part of Capt. von Trapp that Chris disliked so much, but eventually learned to like because of Julie..

Anyway, I would pick Captain and Maria. No question about that, they had much more chemistry.. and it's obvious that his feelings for Maria were intense and so sincere.. Awwww. :))

As for the Baroness, I think she doesn't dislike the von Trapp children at all; in fact, she was even delighted and charmed by them (as seen in the end of the children's reprise of The Sound of Music", when Gretl gave her a cluster of edelweiss.. Elsa even comented on "how enchanting [Georg's] dhildren were). SHe just don't have any idea how to deal with the kids, especially, as her children, she seems she hasn't got any experience in motherhood. She really led a defferent lifestyle in Vienna, and bringing up children doesn't seem to belong in her way of living there. That's it. :)

the captain and maria are soulmates, the only reason him and the baroness were together in the first place was because he wanted the kids to have a mom and she wanted to have a good social status.

As much as I love the Baroness and the Captain together, Maria and the Captain fell in love; I don't think that the Captain ever truly loved the Baroness they were great friends.

The Captain and Maria, hands down!! Actually, Christopher Plummer was interviewed and did not dislike Julie Andrews at all, in fact, quite the opposite. They became very good friends and re-did On Golden Pond together. Also, when the whole cast appeared on Oprah in October, he talked about how much he liked Julie. And I agree that picture of the Captain and Maria is wonderful.

Yes the Captian and Maria loved each other and it was because of her that he got his relationship back on track with his children.
As others have mentioned Christopher Plummer and Julie Andrews are very good friends and always have been.

Here you can see true love it was building up well before she left you could tell by back at the convent what she told the reverend mother

You can see the way Captain kept looking at Maria during the first version of Edelweiss looks of love even more when their dancing the Laendler the way the way Maria was blushing and even though I'm pretty sure that she remembered more of the dance it was just love that got her a little upset remember she'd never felt that way before!
