I was sad at Prims too cause of the way it was described but I loved Finnick more so finnick it is!

Finnick hd finally gotten Annie. His life was just about to start with her, and he DIED! This is one death that I can't forgive. I LOVED Finnick. He's was my second favorite male character (right behind Peeta).

Ppl got mad at me for choosing Finnick over Prim......oh well glad to know I'm not teh only one.

it was so shocking and i was so sad because he became one my favorite characters and i was hoping he was going to make it to the end

Finnick was my favorite character, and it was heartbreaking. I felt genuinely gutted and depressed when I learned Annie had a kid and he never got to learn that he was going to be a father.

Wouldn't have it any other way though. The movie especially has an amazing sendoff, and someone we cared about had to die in Mockingjay (the other deaths were Prim, who wasn't that developed, Boggs, who was just introduced, and a lot of red shirts). Finnick having so much to live for but dying so horribly and unnecessarily IS upsetting and heartbreaking, but it hammers the point that death isn't fair harder than anyone else could.

I have mixed feelings on the abruptness in the books. I heard an explanation comparing it to the fact that, even with media in real life, there's lot of cases where soldiers die in war and it's glossed over for other stuff. A lot of people don't take notice of it if they don't love the person (like how we didn't take notice of a lot of the previous redshirts who suddenly died), but if you DO know or care about the person, it's gutting, even if it's only a sentence about them dying (see Finnick). It makes me appreciate that more. What I don't like is how no one who was close to Finnick seems particularly devastated he died. I think Katniss should've had a stronger emotional reaction.
