18 Burning ‘Hunger Games’ Questions We Still Have After ‘Mockingjay – Part 2′

Today (November 20), the epic “Hunger Games” series finally comes to a close with “Mockingjay — Part 2.” And though there’s still a chance we could see “Peeta’s Panem Adventures” some time down the road, the closing shot of the movie is our last chance for the forseeable future to know what’s going on with Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence).

But even with a fair amount of wrap-up, we still have some burning questions left over from the series. Questions on fire, if you will. So welcome… To the fourth annual Hunger Games burning questions.

Spoilers for “Mockingjay — Part 2″ past this point.

What were Katniss and Peeta’s kids’ names?

Was one of them named Finnick Rue Mellark? Was the other Albus Severus Everdeen? I hope so.

His terrified last line to Katniss, “I don’t know,” seems to indicated he

know. But there’s an argument to be made that his answer is more about how he didn’t try to stop Coin’s plan from happening. Even if he didn’t directly kill Prim, that’s definitely what killed Team Gale, forever.

…And if so, was it with a girl who awkwardly looked just like Katniss? And at Thanksgiving (or Cornucopia Day or whatever they celebrate), he brought her by Peeta and Katniss’ house and was all like, “Meet my girlfriend Kertmess.” And everybody side-eyed each other.

Because sometimes headcanon becomes canon, and it’s a beautiful thing.

What did they do with all those useless Capitol-ites?

Thousands, possibly millions of people who have no skill set except partying. What did they do with them?

Actually, she had a pretty good job, but how did the rest of Panem react to integrating their tiger-person population?

I mean, it’s not a nuclear wasteland, but ideally you don’t need an underground war machine any more, right?

It wasn’t acid, because they could step on it later. Was it oil? Gak, maybe? We’re going with Gak.

You’ve got sewers full of eyeless white zombie things, weird wolves, and tracker jackers probably all up in there. It’s possible they all got tracked down and killed, but with a kinder, gentler Panem, perhaps they opened up the world’s most terrifying zoo, instead? Hope so.

Let’s be honest, The Tooch is probably rotting in a prison, if not dead for collaborating with Snow’s regime. But is there anyone else more qualified as a news anchor? Panem still needs news, right?

Seriously, she was in the movie for like a total of ten seconds. Maybe she had to get on her new shiny armor, instead?

Does Katniss actually speak sign language?

…Because otherwise her nodding politely at Pollux after Castor died was straight up rude.

We know about some of them (Katniss, Peeta), but are they STILL seen as celebs — or the symbol of a system that nearly broke the world?

How will they teach the Hunger Games in schools?

History belongs to the winners, but how much detail will they go into so everyone doesn’t have nightmares?

THEY HAD ONE JOB. And now that job doesn’t exist anymore, so what do they do with their lives?

Last we saw him, all of Panem was rushing towards him to give him a big group hug. So, is he okay? He had that blood coughing thing, but otherwise we can probably assume he’s juuuuust fine.

Panem is the United States (and a little beyond), but is there more to the world than just Panem? Are they really the only people/society left? And if there was another society somewhere out there, what would they do once they encountered the now peaceful districts?
