The story was just being told from Bilbo's POV and he was loyal to the dwarves.

Well frankly, he gave him more screen time then he should have had. So you can't complain on that part. He wrote him much like Tolkien did, from the main story and the side ones. Frankly he gave the elves way to much screen time and didn't give the dwarves enough. Also, as Flicker said the story is suppose to be from Bilbo (and the dwarf's) view, so the elves won't be seen in a good light.

Much like Tolkien, I think Peter favored the elves and was biased that way.

@pumpkinqueen What? NO. Thranduil was not like how he was in the book. Thranduil was a decent guy in the book, in the movie he is portrayed as some sort of villain! And in my opinion, the dwarves had a very deceent amount of screen time.

In fact, I like him by far better in the movies.
